:( I am so pissed! The Dean told me that I would be fully considered and now I have gotten a denial letter for Spring 2004. Oh my goodness! What am I going to do? I just applied at Deckers Nursing college for the Spring let me hope that things work out. Can you make another suggestion? I will go anywhere just to be in the nursing program. Help me please. I need to apply to as many schools as possible for the Spring. God is going to help me.

Ann.

Community college of southern nevada has open spots. they take 64 and barely get that many applications. The next rounds starts Spring 04.

I hope you get in somewhere!

I see you are in tampa. We have a new school here near OCala that is easy to get into, it is in Beleview actually, right nest to Ocala, Call Professional Health Institute. The number is 352-245-4119. I did not go to this school, it is a brand new one, as I went to nursing school some 16 yrs ago at Central Florida Community College, But I hear it is alot less competative and easier to get into. You might have to relocate to Marion County, and If you do I can help you get a job as well if you are currently a CNA, We are hiring at our local Nursing Center. Good Luck To you...

Do you have another family member you could stay with and go to school there? Like an Aunt, Uncle, brother or sister?

I have no one here. I am alone with my two kids here. Thanks for the help. I am applying now as we speak to nevada and Beleview now as we speak.

Again thank you. I have been crying since saturday.

Annmarei, I think I read earlier that you were trying for Hillsborough Community College. I was excepted into their nursing program ten years ago (didn't finish, but that's another story). They were very competitive then - 3.75 gpa requirement to get in when I went. I don't think it is you. I have had nothing but problems with them. I went to try and transfer my nursing courses to the school up here and they refused to get me a syllabus even though my school asked me to get one. They were belittling and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend their nursing program to anyone. That being said, I do believe Tampa has some easier entry LPN programs (Here's a link to one I found in Tampa in case you are interested in that route http://www.erwintech.org/) you might be able to get into right away and then you could bridge over to the RN program with much less difficulty. I don't live in that part of the country any more, but I know they were very competitive before and imagine they are still now. I know there are schools with no wait lists if you are willing to move. Just not sure exactly where all of them are. I am sorry you are having such difficultly, but my experience with HCC was MISERABLE and am very glad that I am not attending there. I hope this turns out to be a blessing in disguise for you and you find an excellent school that believes in supporting their students in achieving their goals.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get in. I know how hard that is, I have been turned down also. If you are willing to move then you shouldn't have a problem getting in somewhere else. The California University of Pennsylvania, usually has open spots for their program, and the cost of living is very cheap as well as tuition. It's just an option, but I'm sure you'll get many other suggestions. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide. Let us know how it goes. hugs.

Hey, my boyfriend and my roommate went there!!!! He's not a nurse, but he did like the school.

iliel. Wow thats cool. I don't go there, but many of my friends did and do. However, in my "younger" days I did some oat sewing there. It is actually a very beautiful campus and incredibly cheap for a University. It's a typical college town. How funny, I didn't think anyone would have ever heard of it, especially someone from Las Vegas. I'm still shocked.

Jen, I sent you a PM

If you go to this site, http://www.nyerrn.com/nursing/schools/f.htm#fl

you will see a list of florida nursing schools. Hope this helps!

I really feel your pain. I applied to 3 schools & got into the one I MOST didn't want to get into. But, God shined on me and the school I REALLY wanted to go to accepted 8 extra people into the class. That is only 10 mins. away, as opposed to 1 hr. 1 way.

Think positive and pray. Or if you don't pray, heck, ask. It can't hurt.
