We hear plenty of the negative, I say we get some positive! Happy moments, big accomplishments, neat things you've seen or done.

:D

My happy moment:

I got a thank you card from the family of a wonderful patient I took care of last semester. They went through the hospital, the school, and three instructors to track down my address. Its a nice feeling that in a bumbling, student-y way, I gave their family member good enough care that they went through all that trouble to say "thanks."

That really is a moment! Congrats!! :)

My happy moment:

-- Realizing what it means to do something so important for everyone but myself. It's not about me (though I do see the benefits daily), it is about that patient/family member I help that I will probably never see again. It's very rewarding and I feel blessed to have found that at such a young age.

We're still in nursing school, which means we're still passing, which means we must be doing something right...

I've got such a great set of students to be with through nursing school. Every day I see them is a great day. If one of us is even close to being late for class at least five cell phones are pulled out to see if you overslept, got in an accident, or need a ride.

Good things that have happened in nursing school is when all 40 of us take over a restaurant after finals, those poor waiters...

My instructor said "your welcome" and smiled when I tried to clarify something. That's as good as it gets for me.

I found my best friend in nursing school!:yeah:

I have found such a sense of pride in myself that I didn't realize I had. I realized that I don't give myself enough credit and found out I am way smarter than I thought, can handle much more than I ever dreamed possible, feel good about myself when I look back at all that I've accomplished and feel that if I can survive nursing school, I think I can do just about anything I set my mind to!!:w00t:

**Ah, the friendships....it isn't something you can explain to someone who hasn't been through this. You develop a small family and have those you love, those you tolerate, and those you hope to NEVER have to work with again!!

***The thanks you get from patients and the RNs/staff you work with during clinicals. Remembering the little old guy who's hand you held while the M.D. put stitches in his head or the pt who was dying from CA and felt you were someone he could share feelings and emotions with. That's the reinforcement that keeps you going during those long lonely nights of studying and stressing when you start wondering WTH you were thinking when you chose this path!!

****Nearing the end of your schooling and being surprised that you came so far, so quickly from those first weeks of the 1st semester when you wondered if you could hack this. And the amazement that you DID IT!!!

*****The appreciation for your instructors, RNs/staff on the clinical floors, and your family for putting up with you!!

Best wishes all!!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have posted on here, because I'm starting nursing school in a little over a month from now and it makes me feel positive knowing it's not ALL bad! I look forward to school, and I hope I can stay positive throughout the program. You all have given me HOPE! Thanks!

I brought my first house in nursing school at 23...never thought I'd be able to afford one, but I did.
