FOOOOOOOOOD - What snacks/meals do you have for clinicals?

    What snacks do you pack for clinicals? I'm a pretzel and cheese girl myself... salt is my go to when I'm running around all the time.

    What about meals? Do you eat with the rest of the "dining out" crew, grab something from the cafeteria, or pack your lunch?

    I'm trying to change my eating habits and looking to see what others do

    Yogurt with berries and granola and I stir in protein powder to make it more filling

    Last semester we only got 30 minutes to eat and there was nothing close by so everyone packed lunch. I usually too something non-refrigerated like PBJ and fruit, or something I could keep cold with an icepack... there was no room in the fridge for our stuff.

    Pack a sandwich, fruit like grapes, juice, and chips.

    That's my on the run food!

    When I was in nursing school, I always had a Greek yogurt (lots of protein) with granola for morning snack. For lunch, I usually had a sandwich or a lean cuisine. And then for afternoon snack, I usually had fruit.
    Now, as a working nurse, I still do this same, but I add in either nuts or a fiber one bar to my second snack. I work 12 hour days so I need to make sure I have enough food to get me through the day.

    I did a lot of eating out and/or grabbing cafeteria food in school. I gained 10 pounds for it too even though I was active. I'd recommend packing your lunch. Some ideas for days are oatmeal packets for you break mid-morning or bars. Lunch can be anything, though I like to keep things on the lighter side. I really like tuna sandwiches, but other people hate the smell. I'd also recommend packing snacks. I used to keep a bag of almonds in a scrub pocket for clinical (dedicated pocket that nothing else ever went into). Then I could snack while waiting for the pyxis or while charting.

    We dont have lunch at clinicals we go from 7-12 and take 15 min breaks. I drink pepsis and love fruits to snack on and give me energy.

    I bring lunch and snacks for two reasons:
    1. I am cheap and every time I went to the cafeteria, I would spend around $7-$10, which is crazy to me.
    2. I am super picky because I don't eat any processed foods, grains, dairy, beans or legumes, soy, sugar, etc.....there's practically no way for me to eat unless I bring it from home.
