I have my CPR training tomorrow. Do you have any tips for me? Anything that I should brush up on tonight before class? I am going to a class at a local hospital through the American Heart Association for BLS. I am getting very nervous  Has anyone not passed the course? YIKES...any help would be greatly appreciated

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

Just show up on time and don't forget your payment. Wear comfortable clothes because you will be getting on the floor.

Specializes in Tele, Home Health, MICU, CTICU, LTC.

Remember your ABC's when you take the test at the end. Good luck!

At every CPR training I've attended, the instructor would "coach" the students on the questions they got wrong until they got them right. I've never heard of anyone not passing. Don't worry!

You have absolutely no reason to be nervous.

Every CPR class I have participated in has been a load of fun. Each instructor I have had were really great people, made everyone comfortable and made it really easy to understand the information and pass the class.

You'll do fine and probably have a lot of fun in the process.

Specializes in home health, LTC, assisted living.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes, eat something before you go. I almost fainted in my class because it was past lunch and we had no break, plus it was so hot in there. Our teacher made us re-do the questions we got wrong on the written. she was tough, but we really learned. Oh, and don't wear lip-stick or lip gloss, the dummies don't like it!

Before I went, I did a google search and found a site where I could review the info. & take pratice tests. It really helped calm my nerves to know I was prepared.

I am a CPR instructor part time. I gaurantee you thier priority is to teach you these skills, not to have you pass a test. The test is only a paperwork issue. Don't worry about the test. LEarn the skills. That is what is going to save a person's life. You will be fine! Remember, the more relaxed you are the better you will do. A good instructor will be fun and help you. It should never be an intimidating experience.

Have fun!

lindseylou,

how did you do? i am sure it wasn't as difficult as you thought it would be. like some of the other have already said, all of my instructors "coached" us through the paper test. they just wanted to make sure you knew the actions.

Nah...it isn't hard.

Just listen and learn....you'll be fine.

Oh, I did fine. My instructor was great and really worked with us on things we weren't quite getting. The test was easy, especially after all of the hands on training.

Thanks everyone for the info and advice! I was nervous over nothing. :)
