Anyone Else Stressed?

I am going on day three of nursing school tomorrow and am really stressed. I am having difficulty organizing time between studying, work and my two children. How do you study when your six year old wants to play or your one year old is crying? I feel guilty telling them I need to study and I don't want to deprive them. Anyone else have any tips on organizing and prioritizing time. I work evenings so that is out and I have class morning to afternoon. I don't know how to juggle at the moment and it is stressing me out. HELPPPPP!

After two years of pre-reqs and two children, I know where you are coming from. Fortunately, my husband was really great about taking the kids out and/or keeping them quiet while I studied. For the times when he couldn't I found coloring books, their own homework and lots of DVDs and popcorn and snacks did the trick.

I too feel guilty a lot. But I try to remind myself that the sacrifice is worth it for our whole families future. It's temporary and not forever.

Oh, one of my classmates mentioned she took her kids to Chuckee Cheese(sp?) and she studied there. HOW, I have no idea with all the noise, but it worked for her!

Stressed would be an understatement...Going insane is more like it. :chuckle Only thing that works is going to bed with my son(around 8)and getting up at 2 or 3 to do my work and study....or to just wait until he is in bed to crack open the books. Bottom line, you will have to sacrifice sleep time to be both a good student and attentive mother, JMO.

I don't even TRY to study until after my kids go to bed. Then I try to get in a good 2-3 hours sometime between 8:30 and midnight (last night I was up until 2:00).

I feel for you guys. My kids are grown and out of the house and I'm still stressed just thinking about going back to school tomorrow. It's 1:12am and I can't sleep a wink. Oops, it is tomorrow.

I have never had an anxitey attack until this past monday. It was my first day of Health and Physical Assessment class, I was just sitting there listening to the instructor talk and all of a sudden I got this rush of anxiety, it felt like I couldn't breathe and this little voice saying "what the hell were thinking!". This is so unusal for me, I have never really been this way about school before. I guess it is hitting me that it's for real and I am knee deep in the muck!! The other reason it bothered me is that I have been an LPN for 16 years and feel pretty good about my skills in the first place, so why should I be feeling like this? I know this was long but I needed to vent, thanks. I feel better now :)

I sometimes put headphones on with light jazz music ( no words) while the kids have on their Nickelodeon. It helps me tune other stuff out so I can focus. Next week my oldest will be in school, and my youngest in preschool for 2 1/2 hours. I will be taking advantage of that. Laundry and dishes can wait till they are home LOL.

LOl..I can see WHY! When SpongeBob is on, it's all I can do to get as FAR AWAY as possible from that noise!

for those of you who study late....do you have full time jobs? I have a full time job and I go home to cook and pick up. How am I going to stay awake to study, when I will be getting home everyday after 7:30 to cook and pick up then study and be up at 6am? do any of you have this schedule ? please tell me how u handle it? :uhoh3:

Simplify everything to allow the maximum amount of study time for yourself.

I rely on my crockpot. Meals can be put in it in the morning, and are hot and ready when you get home. The newer models are even programmable and can switch to warm automatically. Using a crockpot will save you at least an hour of time each evening. You can find a wealth of crockpot recipes doing a search on the web and some only take merely minutes to throw together.

As far as housework, I do minshots of picking things up when I need a study breaks. I take 10 minute study breaks and focus on one room at a time. To make it simple, I keep a stash of plastic bags in each room for collecting garbage. In each of the bathrooms and kitchen I keep a stcoked caddy of cleaning supplies to cut down on time. Laundry can be thrown in the wash during a study break and on the next, put in the dryer.

Do what you can do, and some household messes just have to wait for the weekend.

minnielynn,

I too work M-F 8-5 and go to school fulltime (ONLINE)...I have been able to keep up by actually getting up earlier then I used too...I get up at 5AM go to the gym and workout for 1 hr, then go to work...This exercise has increased my stamina and I feel less tired throughout the day...:roll I know it sounds crazy but I feel worse when I sleep until 6:30AM and go straight to work...

I get home about 6PM and spend time with my daughters and husband until about 8PM and then study from 8PM to midnight...if I get tired I cut it back to 10PM...

Note: My hubby :kiss does all the cooking and cleaning...I help a little, but I don't stress over it anymore...

Okay, NOW I am stressed. We had our clinical/skills lab orientation today. The sheer amount of information we received is really overwhelming. I'm not a very organized/anal person, but I went out straight away and bought a three-ring binder and a three-hole punch.

Oy.
