Anybody recently taken the ACT. I'm applying to my local college and they require the NET test and the ACT. The NET test I am not worried about, but the ACT scares me. I do believe this measures your skills/abilities to that of high school seniors. Well, I have been out of school for a very long time. The reading part I'm not worried about, yes, it's the dreaded math that scares me. I have been brushing up, but it's those darn word problems that get me.

I take tests really, really well (truly, it is a talent). I actually got a perfect English score the second time I took it. I reallly expected the score to be lower the second time I took it and was surprised.

The math I had the most trouble with on the ACT the second time was geometry and those x and y axis problems.

I had to take the ACT, 20 years post high school. Scared the bugebbers out of me. And there isnt anything like a 35 year old sitting in a classroom with a bunch of high school juniors,, uhggg!I did fine though. All ya need is what the particular school requires. As for any important test though,, get a good nights sleep, eat some breakfast, get there in plenty of time with required ID, take a few good deep breaths before you go in and try to relax. Good luck!!

The ACT is a piece of cake. I didn't prepare for it at all... I had to get a minimum score of 20 to enter the nursing program, and I took it so far in advance I figured if I bombed it, I could do it again.

No preparation... no problem. I got a 29. And this was 6 years out of high school with no classes in between.

Seriously, relax about it.

Didn't ever have to take the test personally but I just wanted to wish ya luck on it. Just become familiar with the setup and do some practice questions so that you know what to expect... :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

The problem is that I never had geometry. So it's kind of like going back to basics. The basic algebra I think I can handle.

I knew a girl that got a 36 on the ACT. Had several Ivy league colleges hounding her to go there. That was 12 years ago (am I really that old?) to this day, she has never gone to college. She was really shy and didn't think she would be able to handle it.

Go figure
