...You realize what area of specality you want to go into and are then able to skip the trenches of bedside Med-Surg that many Old(er) Nurses tell you is mandatory just because they want to put you through the back-breaking Hell they went through before they realized what field they liked. We have Med-Surg Clinicals and Preceptorship already. And I've have a Nurse's Aide job for years. And I am a Sitter...

... When you finally get the ativan and endocet finely crushed and in a chocolate drink, and watch the pt. drink it right down to the bottom of the cup and all the powder is still in the cup!!

When you have to ask the CNA's where your pts are so you can give them their meds! :D

Karen, that is TOO FUNNY and yes, I can relate to that too! ha ha ha!

You have to laugh ... but sometimes you want to cry. Keep your sense of humor and remember that Grace and you'll be fine!

I can identify with all of the above, to some degree, as an "old" nurse LOL -

I love the "this hand is sterile, this one is clean ..." You should try working in the OR - this table is clean, that bottom is dirty ... lol

Good luck to you!

BTW, I never knew that Tobi can make you gag when you change a diaper...

I think that you are being cold. I read the 1st page of the threads that you started on your profile. Profile pages are open for everyone to see. I think that it is very disrespectful that you would stereotype like that, too. My goal of this thread is for it to be a positive learning experience. If you learn and share new things, the Nursing profession will get better for all within. For instance, I learned that in Community Nursing, you need to speak on a 5th grade level so that those people can understand you.

:studyowl: FYI - This thread was started in response to the Long-Standing "You know you're an Old(er) nurse if...). peace

Yes, I am aware that profile pages are open to everyone. However, just fyi, those threads you see under my name aren't necessarily ones that I've started, only replied to. :nono:

Eeek... I was reading this old as dirt thread and hit thanks by mistake, which I did NOT mean to do... but since I did, I might as well reply and revive an oldie.

Razorback, I think if you look at your profile there are two choices: one says "find all posts by _________" and the other is "find all threads STARTED by ___________"

(But perhaps since this thread is that old, you've already figured that out, hehehe).

Sorry for dredging up the old thread. :uhoh21:
