Hello everyone. I am sad tonight b/c I was offered a job as a patient care technician 1 about two weeks ago and turned it down b/c of cold feet. Now I know what I passed up and called back the Nurse Recruiter at the hospital and asked if the same position was open. They said they had offered it to another student.:( Anyways now I think I have made a bad impression. What do ya'll think? Should I maybe follow up in few days or just let it rest? Any input appreciated. Thanks!!!:o :nurse:

Let it rest. Nothing happens by chance. You may not know the reason why you said no..........cold feet, other things, etc..........but, trust what gut feeling you had at that time. You weren't ready for it then. Stop beating yourself up over a job that has a revolving door attached to it anyway.........all of nursing is like that. The right job for you will come along, and when it does you'll know it and snatch it up quick. Don't be bribed, bought, or coaxed to ever accept a job. Think it through next time. I mean really and truly give it a lot of thought from your own judgement of who you are, what you want, and what direction you want your life to go in. I wish you well. :kiss

Thanks!! Now I don't feel so bad!!!

I agree with cheerfuldoer. Also if you did make a mistake- then you will have learned better how to set goals. This may prepare you for a really big career decision later. Good luck in school.

I was working for an agency and had an assignment I LOVED! I was offered a position and ... I turned it down! Kicked myself for a year and a half because immediately after that all other assignments for the agency were HORRID -- more travel, and never anything as good as I'd had it.

BUT -- in hindsight: I went thru a terrible depression shortly after turning the job down and lost time at work. I was glad that I had the insurance at the old job to help with therapy, as well as the seniority with the agency so I didn't lose the job. Not to mention I would have felt so embarrassed had I taken the job I really cared about and fallen on my face. Now I am working for the company I had turned down!

I think all things happen for a reason. You will know what that reason is much later, maybe the man upstairs has something better planned for you!

Yep, praying for you, too!
