Excuse me if I'm wrong, but there is no CNA section. I was wondering why that is. Without CNA's, PCT's etc, nursing homes and hospitals wouldn't be complete. This all nurses.com right? Again, excuse me if I overlooked that section.

this is primarily a site about nursing for nurses and nurses to be. Although everyone is welcome, The reason is probably because CNA/PCT/medical assistants etc... are not nurses. They are assistants. However a lot of the students on this site (including me) are CNA's (whether we work as one or not) and we enjoy using all of the forums on the board and in particular the pre-nursing and nursing student forums are helpful. Welcome aboard!

Yes, please check out the student sections, if that would be helpful to you. As you noted, this site is allnurses.com....however there are people that aren't even in healthcare at all that post here. It probably would be an idea to have a folder just for aides, we have so many threads by them anymore!

Anyway, welcome! :)

I have found this site very helpful as an assistant. It gives me a broader understanding of what nurses do, what they contend with....and that helps me know what could make me a better assistant. It is instructive to get a glimpse of patient care from a different perspective, from those who are in tune with what the pts really need. It would be helpful if from time to time some of the nurses would start threads that would be instructional to NAs. Alot is assumed: we only get 6 weeks training, and we really need the info! Throw us a bone!

This is funny, I forgot I even started this thread. Now there IS a CNA section on the board. Yay!
