What are your favorite nursing shoes?

I know that I saw a thread quite some time ago about this but I can't find it now. I am going to purchase my nursing school uniform next week and I am curious about what type and brand shoes to buy. We are required to either have "nursing" shoes or white "tennis" shoes. What do you all find to be the best (most comfortable)? Are clogs all they are cracked up to be? I was looking at a pair of Dansko's but they seemes pretty expensive...over $100.00. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

i think the shoes just depends on the person. i have tried several different kind. i just don't think anything is as comfortable as a good pair of tennis shoes. that just gets rather expensive replacing them every six months. i have a pair of birks (everyone raved about them so i tried.). they really hurt my feet and legs. i also have a pair of klogs, those wear good, but after one day (when working several in a row) my knees hurt. the best thing i have found is a pair of teva clogs. (these don't come in white.) i can wear these shoes for several days in a row without them hurting my feet knees or legs. i think the birkenstocks and danskos have more arch support. they are rather hard in my opinion. i am very flat footed so these don't work for me. good luck in finding something that works. this is very important b/c we spend alot of time on our feet. it can make for a miserable day if your shoes are not comfortable.

Birkenstocks are the best! My pair have lasted since 1998, and they still have tons of wear left in them! They were almost $200, but well worth it!

I wore Danskos for years and loved them, but two points to consider. You can't run very well in clogs, or walk backwards comfortably. I have had my clogs fly off when running emergencies to the OR. I wear Merrills now and would not go back to anything else. I had to find them on line, but it was well worth the effort.

Dansko's all the way. On my clinical I always wear my Dansko's Jette. Well worth the money and some fellow students have gotten them as well and find them great. Can't wear clogs but we can wear sneakers--New Balance I find to be great but still not comparable to the Dansko Jette.

Birkenstocks killed my feet and legs (though I like to wear them at home, just not for 12 hours).

Danskos were okay, but I turned my ankle in them a lot, not too cushiony.

I LOVE my clog zcoils...they stay on, are quite stable, and have take the pressure off my feet and legs. They took about a week or two to break in, so they definately got more comfortable the more that I work that I wore them! Watch out for iv tubing and barstool type chairs that you can put your feet on...the spring can get stuck (the only downside to the shoes...)

I currently wea Anywhere's. Best i've tried yet. Bought the expensive Dansko's and it felt like like i had wooden blocks strapped to my feet.

The best overall nursing shoes are Reebok DMX Walkers, and they come in wide.

It's hard to keep them looking new, though.

I like SAS shoes I think they are the most comfortable shoe you will every wear....And they aren't too expensive....And they last for a long time.....I also like my New Balance, mainly, cause we have a NB store and they are very good at helping find the right shoe and measuring your feet properly....
