Unnecessarily exposing the public to illnesses

Please help me understand this...

Why, why, why do people insist on either going out or taking their sick kids out in public when they are obviously contagious?? For instance ~ taking your kids with a stomach virus out to see Santa. I don't understand this, and it seems to be pretty commom practice. I think it's just incredibly rude.

Not only is it rude, it is counterproductive. No one gets well as quickly when they're dragging themselves all over Kingdom Come. It especially puzzles me when people show up sick and act like they deserve an award for martyrdom. I just want them to stay the heck away from me...

Let's see, last time i was severely sick, i ventued out in public for food and stuff to drink. Had to. No one else was there to do it for me.

You dont really say what age child this was but..... Sure it would be better for the kid and others if they didnt go running with mom until fevers are gone(contagious period). But, how long should someone stay home with a child with the sniffles/cough/yucky nose? Some kids have it all winter long, should they never go out? Kids bounce back from viruses and bugs they pick up faster than adults, but adults dont stay home. If a child gets something like that they most likely picked it up at school/church where they are with others for longer periods, not necissarily visiting santa.

Please consider, kids dont digest that phelm they swallow, so its coming out one way or another. It doesnt mean they are sick. (eww didnt want to put that in ,,but felt it was needed)

Most adults arent going to get a cold/virus that a child has, since most have developed immunity to those bugs long ago. It's the adults that dont stay home, and dont use tissues, and wipe their noses on their sleeves, and cough all over the grocery store carts that get people sick.

I think social visits when people are sick are needless and inconsiderate. But life does not stop when we get sick and sometimes, we (and our kids) have to go out and do things like grocery shop, go to the pediatrician, or run necessary (and short ) errands. And the pressure to work sick is very palpable---how many times have you called out and gotten a lot (or a little) grief over being sick? There is just not much support or help for taking time off to get well in our country, at all.

But a visit to Santa? Those parents are selfish, self-centered and rude. They are neither thinking about the wellbeing of their kids, other kids, or the poor sucker who is being Santa that day. There is no excuse in my book for that.

And if it's the adults spreading it all around, how come the flu peaks during school season? I think kids are the germ carriers, getting the rest of us sick, myself. I was never so sick til I had my kids and they went to daycare or public school. I have been much healther since they have been homeschooled these 3 years. I can count on ONE hand the number of colds/flu each of us has had in that same 3 years.

I can understand if you have no other choice than to venture out in public. Like for food, prescriptions etc.

BUT, what kills me is when parents take their kids shopping and they obviously are sick or don't even want to be there.

Someone please explain to me why some people bring their infants in to the hospital and let them crawl around on filthy floors or bring them into isolation rooms )MRSA, VRE etc) What's wrong with people? Or coming to visit hacking all over everyone. Staff are guilty too. I worked in Toronto during SARs and let me tell you- this really annoys me. I already attended one coworkers funeral
