I have a feeling that this subject has been brought up before....But watching a certain movie made me think about the odd tattoos that we as nurses see when giving our patients care.

What are some of the oddest and oddest placed tattoos on patients you've seen...

I really haven't seen any particularly odd ones but the one that made me think of this thread was the Daffy Duck with a lawn mower across the pubic area (hint to the particular movie).:uhoh3:

A biker guy with a tattoo of a naked lady with her legs spread apart.....with the guy's umbilicus strategically placed between the tattoo's legs.

True story.

Best tattoo that I ever saw on a patient was pre- lung transplant. She had a dotted line tattooed for the incision line for her transplant. Very cool individual. Hope that she is doing well.

aw that's awesome! me too =)

I once took care of a rather questionable gentleman that had one word tattoed on each buttock- "the end." And no, it did not look like a professional job either :uhoh3:. He supposedly had another tattoo on another er, area of interest but I made it my mission for the night to NOT know what the other tattoo was:bugeyes:

Not a pt but a nursing assistant I worked with had a picture of the grim reaper on the inside of her thigh with an arrow pointing upwards with a banner saying 'death to all that enter'

I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time:-$..............wonder how she will feel about that in about 40 years :-D

I have tattoos, but they are hidden... I do enjoy seeing all the different types. I really enjoy the patients who are so afraid of needles but have 50% of their body covered in tattoos... funny to me...

I'm a VA nurse and most of the Vets I take care have tattoos. There is always a great story behind why they got a particular tattoo. It makes for great converstation.

I had a young 20ish patient who had on her low back these wonderful words

Oh, NO you don't !

A homosexual male with "Good to the last drop" tattooed on his groin above his member. We referred to him as Maxwell.

Had an old lady with a butterfly on the backside of her shoulder.. but the body of it was a member. and there was... stuff coming out the top of it. yikes.

The same lady also had HERMAN tattooed on her. We asked who Herman was, and she said it was her late husband's "thang."
