Spin off of dating patients. RN's dating docs?

We've had a few threads recently about whether or not it's acceptable to date patients. (former patients, hopefully ;) )

My question is regarding an RN and a doctor. I met a doctor for the first time on Friday and I can't stop thinking about him. It's embarrassing, really. He and I had several conversations regarding a patient for whom he had been consulted. He is a heme/oncology resident, and my pt had been diagnosed with lymphoma. He's new to our facility, and he's a wonderful, caring doctor with an obvious passion for his work and the patients he cares for.

Our conversations began with the patient, and ended on a more personal level. We talked about our ages, (he's 7 years my junior), kids, both of us being single, etc etc. I'm not kidding you when I tell you that at one point during one conversation, I felt the incredible urge to lean over and kiss him, full on! I've never felt this way about anyone.

Would it be wrong for me to DO something like ask him out for a drink? I don't know how to handle this, I just know that I won't be seeing him much as we don't often have reason to consult his team on my PCU. I really don't want to be rejected, but I get the feeling that I wouldn't be. I wonder if he's thinking the same thing... I just don't know, and I'd hate to think that I allowed this "opportunity" for what could be a fantastic relationship to go nowhere if I do nothing.

AM I CRAZY??

I married a nurse I met in the hospital.

I know a female MD married to a male RN! They both got loads of flack from their colleagues, but they've made it work for years now.

definitley say something....the worst he can say is no, and oh well, his loss....i have made the first move on every guy i've dated...girl power

girl power indeed, let's make this a sticky!!

i am so sad. i love this thread though. sooooooo cute!!! this reminds of my sister's story. when my sister was a senior in high school, a resident actually made a move. she ( my sister) told me the resident asked her where was the restroom. my sister was a volunteer in the ICU. the room were not that big and the restroom was really obvious. He kept smiling at her.

Anyway, my sister was too young (i consider that as niave; she had never dated anyone before, sad huh?), so she was of course shy and never said anything back to him. Besides, she was 17 and the resident was pretty old (30ish) but VERY good looking. nothing really happened, but the story is pretty funny in a way.

it is winter break, so i have the time to remember and write what my sister told me 4 years ago.

this sounds like a throwback to the fantasies and dreams of the nurses during the 1950's and 1960's...wanting to date or marry a fictitious md television character...

a la dr. kildare or dr. ben casey...

...or the fatherly and paternal draw of of television character dr. marcus welby for the nurses of the 1970's....

what happened to the slogan " we've come a long way baby!"

i think not.

oh well...

dream on.

i ain't hatin', my panties just ain't shakin' in that direction.
