South University BSN/ Chamberlain

I'm having a lot of difficulty trying to find a BSN or ADN program that doesn't require waitlists or is not very competitive. I'm currently in my second year of university and switching to nursing. I came across South University in Novi, Michigan. I have a low 2.6 gpa and it is above their 2.0 requirement for transfer students. I've read a lot of bad reviews and some good as well. Does anyone have an idea or thoughts about this program? Also, chamberlain-troy is an option, any thoughts? Do you think chamberlain is worth the high cost. I looked into a lot of community colleges but they are so competitive that I don't know if I want to wait to get into them because I would like to get going into a nursing program as soon as I can.

Before choosing a program, research its accreditation and NCLEX pass rates. While some schools you are looking at may not have wait lists, they may not be accredited, leading to possible problems when looking to further your education. Low NCLEX pass rates speaks of a program that doesn't truly prepare its students to practice as competent entry-level nurses. ACEN and CCNE are the accrediting bodies for nursing school; you will also want to ensure that the school is approved by the BON of your state so that you will be able to take NCLEX.

Both aforementioned schools (South University and Chamberlain) have nearly 100 percent acceptance rates because they are investor-owned schools of questionable repute. Last time I looked, Chamberlain's BSN program cost $86,000+ in tuition and fees.

In exchange for the staggeringly expensive tuition, you obtain the convenience of no wait list, easy admissions, and a streamlined enrollment process. Since I am averse to accruing more student loan debt than necessary, I'd say no to both schools.

I am in the exact same boat. I am meeting with a counselor at South University.

The take 24 students one time a year in Jan.
