Should I start studying now?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to take A&P I this fall semester. Consequently, I was wondering should I start studying now. Everyone say that A&P is a hard course. Please, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I am also taking A&P I in the fall and I am going to begin studying early. I bought the anatomy coloring book, and it's been really helpful so I plan on getting the physiology coloring book as well. I can't buy my textbooks yet because the bookstore doesn't get the books in until august. I got the coloring book from amazon.com for about $16 and I've found that it really helps the info to stick in my head. I'm thinking about going to the used bookstore this weekend to buy an old A&P textbook. I don't think it'll cost very much and even though I can't use it for my class, I think it will be a good starting point. :)

Okay, I'll have to admit that I'm a little excited about starting back to school in the fall. I've been taking general education classes for the last couple semesters and I'm looking forward to getting to the "meat and potatoes" courses. I'm also a little nervous about the more difficult classes because I need to maintain a high GPA to have a chance at getting into the BSN program. Thanks for the tip on the old textbooks...it didn't occur to me that they might conflict with my instructor's format. That would probably just add to the confusion! I see your point about needing to relax over the summer, maybe over-doing it will lead to burn-out. :)

If you are really wanting to study I will throw some ideas your way. There are tons of sites on the internet that are really quite good. Do you have any a&P or chemistry that you studied in the past. I would start with cell organelles, what they do. RNA,DNA,transcription (that whole bit). Basic chemistry review.Go over tissues, epithelium eg. simple cuboidal, simple columnar. ect... I hope this helps, any questions I would be willing to help :) But do try to relax before the rollar coaster ride begins!!

I would also be willing to answer any A&P related questions... I'm the bio tutor on campus

Take care,

Reb

It sounds like you two are either very excited or very nervous about A&P. You don't need to study all summer long to prepare. In fact, I would suggest you don't. Don't believe all the hype about A&P, its not all that difficult, its just memorization and the ability to write lots and lots of essay questions.

Relax and have fun this summer. Buying old textbooks is just a waste of money, as they will undoubtedly have outdated information, or present it in a format that is not compatible with that of your professor.

Instead, buy a nice thriller or romance paperback, drink a beer, and R E L A X.

:D

I agree...you guys will be studying ENOUGH this fall! Enjoy the summer. :p
