I've seen in a Korean TV show one time on youtube that there is a hospital in South Korea that has a band formed by a couple of doctors and nurses from the hospital that was featured.

I'm wondering, are there anyone here who is a part of or knows a band formed by hospital employees? I was thinking that when sometime wayyyy ahead in the future, I want to start one! :D and make patients happy! hahaha. :yeah:

And feel free to post any musical events that you have witnessed in any clinical setting that has made an impact on you and your patients :)

Several of the guys that I work with are in bands, but they're not related to the hospital. We regularly have musicians come in for holiday parties for our residents - we've had everyone from members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to the daughter of a direct care staff perform!

My boyfriend is in medical school, and I know there are probably about 6 or 7 bands of med students who do monthly performances, perform at hospital events, or put on fundraisers for the hospital. They're all super talented and always put on a good show!

A local band here is made up exclusively of physicians. A couple of them I see regularly on the floor, some of the others work with different medical groups and are associated with other area hospitals. One is a nephologist, another is a general surgeon, etc.

They aren't associated or do things with the hospital, though. They play in local bars, etc (like any other local band). I imagine that if we had an event and were in need of a band, that they would play (I often wonder how they all manage to not be on call on the same weekend nights, since they are all in different practice groups, maybe that's why it's only every 6 weeks or so that they are featured somewhere).

I've gone to see them a few times, in fact I'd like to go again soon, as they are really good! It's fun to see another side of the people you work with, isn't it? :)

Nothing wrong with finding/making the time to do something you enjoy, especially with the every day stress of medical school! I say kudos to them.

i'd love to join a band!! i'm just about to restart my piano lessons and i'm super excited. i think it's awesome that so many health care workers are also in bands, i've never heard of it before lol

sarcasm in full use right now. Sorry. It's the springy weather - my dog feels it too - he's been a bit frisky too.

I know! Impressive, huh? I definitely was impressed at the first show I went to!

Of course, there are definitely way more first year bands than 3rd/4th years simply because first years are doing most of their work in the classroom/lab as opposed to 4th years doing their sub-I's. Most of the bands only practice together once a week a week or two before the shows. It's a lot of individual musicians who are able to learn a song on their own and just get together on short notice and make great music (which probably is the same type of rehearsal schedule for md/rn bands who all have different work schedules).

Google the "Laryngospasms." Hilarious songs by a group of RNA's.

I've always played instruments, from years on piano to years on guitar & a few on drums. LOVE to sing too, always in Chorus as a kid.
