Pregnant and promotion

I am currently 8.5 months pregnant and the promotion I've been hoping for has just opened up. Do you think that being this far along and them knowing that I will have to soon take a leave will work against me? I have made it known that I do not plan to take an extended leave barring serious complications perinatally but will still be off until my OB releases me back to work. This is a job I really really want and feel I am very well qualified for but am scared that they will pass me over because of the impending leave. I have filled in for this position previously and all my co-workers feel confident that I am the best candidate for the position but I'm just nervous. If I do not get this position at this time I feel that it will be several years before another opportunity for this position will open up and do not know if I am passed over for this position what I will do (not to sound overly dramatic, but it will seriously make me consider other career goals).

I think you are over-analyzing this.

You basically have 2 options: apply for the job or not. One of those options guarantees that you will not be chosen.

Good luck!

Oh, I've already applied :) I was just looking for opinions as to whether or not people thought that it would hurt my chances of actually getting it.

Not sure how any of us would be able to give you a reasonable answer, since we don't know your facility/personnel/policies, etc.

As far as the law is concerned, it shouldn't hurt you.

Legally your pregnancy can't be used against you.

Plus, if you've done it and people think you're good at it, it sounds like you definitely have a shot
