Hello everyone I am looking for some clarity in nursing salaries. I have found websites that list salaries but don't feel as though they are accurate. I am an LPN in Rochesyer NY. Average salary for a new LPN is $15-$18 and hour. I choose to work per diem and have a few medicaid cases so my salary is $24-$33 an hour so my salary is much higher than most of my nursing school friends. Me and my family are looking to move somewhere warm and without snow after I graduate from RN school. What are your average salaries in these environments? Looking into Texas, Florida, Oregan, North Carolina, Arizona, Tennessee, Colorado and California. Have a great day and TIA.

Make sure you consider cost of living, as well. $30 and hour in some markets is more than $60 an hour in others.

I earned between $16 and $27 per hour as an LVN in Texas from 2006 to 2010. The average LVN pay rate in this area was about $21 per hour with experience.

I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area. Most hospital systems around here will start a new RN at $24 to $26 hourly. This is a BSN-preferred area unless you do not mind working outside the hoospital setting.

How are the summers? My brother lives near Houston and says really hot, but I am looking forward to no snow!
It is 86 degrees today. In July and August, there were multiple 100+ degree days. Also, it certainly snows in this part of Texas, but it usually does not stick around for more than a day or two before completely melting.

Thank you! Looks like I would have to look into getting a few medicaid private duty cases and work per diem if we moved there there as well. Its crazy a new RN here in the ICU nurse makes $22, so for me it would be a pay cut almost seems like a waste to go back to school.

Does the no state tax really play any kind of a factor in your cost of living?

RNs in Southern California can make anywhere from $28/hr in case management to $65 at a Kaiser facility

They'll get you with property taxes.
