Need Advice on Relocating

Hi all,

So I am currently living in NH and working in MA; however I hate my current job in an ER. Not sure if I like nursing at all really, but I do like caring for kids. The problem is that I have applied and applied, even in my own hospital for pedi jobs and everyone wants experience. I am not sure how to get that if everyone wants experience... any way I have become EXTREMEMLY frustrated, especially since I am totally miserable going to work!

I am just looking for information on other states that have 1) no winter (mainly snow and ice), 2) JOBS! 3) A pediatric hopsital 3) Stuff to do, people to meet. 4) Reasonalby priced real estate

Not sure if I can have all of that, but the most important one is that there is no snow or ice! I HATE winter!!!

i don't know if this will help. i live in texas around dallas and we don't have those kinds of winters here. we usually get maybe one ice/snow storm during the winter months and that's pretty much it. i know that dallas has 1, maybe 2 pediatric hospitals and plenty of stuff to do. i don't know about reasonably priced real estate in the immediate dallas area, but we got our 2,000 sq. ft. house for 82,000 last year. in tx, the real estate may allow more space for your money, but the property taxes can quickly kick your @$$. i also know there is a pediatric hospital in houston, but from what i've read the job market isn't great there. it's competitive in dallas, but there are still jobs available, as far as i have read and can tell. i don't know much else about houston though. hopefully someone else can help you with that. hth

Memphis, TN has two pedi hospitals: St. Jude and LeBonheur. Real estate is below market and winters are certainly not like what you have experienced. Same with St. Louis.

Why don't you google pedi hospitals first???

There is at least one in Austin and that is a great place to live. Property close to inner city is expensive, but outside areas are not bad.

There is at least one in Austin and that is a great place to live. Property close to inner city is expensive, but outside areas are not bad.

Both St. Jude and LB are excellent hospitals, however, having just spent the past four years in Memphis, I would suggest you take into account the exceptionally high violent crime rate of the city. It's a fun place to live in the short term and it does have some great hospitals, but some other aspects of living in the city might deter you. Just a thought.

im not so sure about the snow/ice free winters in regards to st. Louis...i just moved from missouri more southern than st. louis and our winters werent all that great..

Come on down to Ga. In Atlanta there is 2 pedi hospitals.I never worked peds but I do know there are alot of agency jobs for peds.The winters are not bad,hardly ever get snow.Lots to do and the housing is affordable.I myself stay out of the city at night .The crime rate in certain areas are bad but guess that is every where it seems.Sure hope you find a job you love.I worked oncology and loved every minute of it.I am now retired living my dream in the blue ridge mtns.

My sister lives right across the border in Mississippi, low cost of living/real estate area, and low crime rate in Olive Branch. 15 minutes to cross the border and be at the hospitals there. You might want to try one of the surrounding areas in MS. Just a thought.....
