  1. if its your dream i would take it regardless of how your current nurse manager feels about it. just be honest about it. its better to do what you want and do it before you get put on actual staff then to go through life with the what ifs
  2. i just had an initial phone screening here. when you guys had yours did they give you a time frame of letting you know when they would get back to you? did you call and bug them?
  3. im not so sure about the snow/ice free winters in regards to st. Louis...i just moved from missouri more southern than st. louis and our winters werent all that great..
  4. o and i even managed to get pretty good grades too! As for advice, live close enough to school not to have to commute much and make sure your husband is on board 100%. i dont know if you require much by way of study time but its always nice to have friends in school to study with, create study groups they help you study more material in less time and you retain alot. this is all coming from a person that never really had to study so it really is good.
  5. you can do it! i graduated in may from with my ASN. i began school with a 2 year old and a 10 week old in may 2007. may 2008 i found out i was expecting #3. so i was also pregnant through a semester and a half of school plus a summer term. and had a newborn for the last semester! if i could do it you can too!! good luck!
  6. yeah i really wanted l&d but with everything ive been told, i now want a year or 2 of med/surg. but relocation is almost a must for me
  7. at this point i would take any position i could get! here in socal i cant get a call back from anywhere... and im applying to jobs on craigslist even...im looking into relocating...again...just to get a job. so if anyone knows where those ever elusive jobs are...hook me up! yeah in 2 years things could be different!
  8. o thanks i had no idea there was a site like that out there
  9. im going to school in missouri but i will be moving back home to california so i didnt do any clinicals at hospitals i am applying for. ill have to look for people that may be able to give me a referral. i know a few people at hospitals there so thats good but i dont know anyone at my top choice
  10. I am graduating in may and have started applying for jobs in orange county. is it better to have an employee referral? and how would i find someone to refer me if i dont know someone? or should i not try to find someone if i dont know anyone? THanks!
  11. if you know anything about it please let me know.
  12. everything is WAY more expensive here! for a decent 2 bedroom apt. youre looking at anywhere from 1200 to 2000 a month. gas is about 3.00 a gallon. milk here is about 2.50. i pay about 60.00 a month for liability insurance on my car. and its an 86 civic. i am currently looking to leave here. you could definitely make the same money another place and have a much lower cost of living.
  13. anniep: when will you be starting? im thinking of going there too
