Medical Terminology & Abbrevations Game :)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi,

I thought it would be fun to play a little game and learn at the same time. I know there are alot of Student Nurses & Graduate Nurses so I hope ya'll participate.

So here are the rules: You have to either provide a definition to a term or give the correct name of the abbreviation (whichever the poster above you posts). Then when you answser (only if you know correctly)...then give a term or abbr. for the next person to solve (bolded if you can to make it stand out).

P.S. If there is more than one definition or name, give both.

P.S.S. Don't even think about googling it. The only resource you can use is your brain :D

here's something I wrote today "OOB ad lib; AMB I c min A to BR; voiding CYU QS" I know that's a lot of abbrs--sorry for not following the rules. I'm just showing off my new writing style. I'm an NLN.

When I was a student early on, I'd take copious notes from patient charts (privacy protected of course) and I'd write down tons of these abbreviations. The funny thing is, I thought if I googled them with quotation marks I could find out what they meant. Little did I know how ineffective this technique would be. :banghead:

This thread is hilarious!

Either, as already stated, tetralogy of fallot. On our unit, it's also "train-of-four" ... testing for over/undersedating our paralyzed kiddos.

No one has yet gotten TGA/TGV correct ... I'm waiting here!

Transposition of the Great Arteries (I think I know this one)

Transposition of the Great Veins? (maybe?)

In the same thought;

Something to do with Arteries/Veins?

I have no idea. I'm very curious though.

HIV and AIDS Network

HIV and AIDS Network

It may mean that too, but I'm referring to a specific condition. I will hint: it's often associated with ESRD
