heres a little story for you. a resident older gentelman not with the greatest eyesight, jokester if you will, nice guy, sitting up in his bed the other day and we were talking, and he spots my tattoo, that unfortunately (back in the pre-nursing era)i got right in the middle of my chest , because the top of it peaks out from the "V" of my scrubs, he says " oh thats a heart, and jokenly i replied , john how many times have you seen me, what did you think it was? his responce, ( laughing histericly, " i thought it was chest hair" i said ohh thanks and laughed the rest of the day and then again today,

now i ask, is it about apearances or about people?

guess you know how i voted:-).

I voted not to wear T-shirts.It depends on the weather. In the tropical country where I work,it will be uncomfortable for the nurse to be wearing as such..

Never asked for scrubs to be my "uniform" they look tacky because they where made to not look like anything, just to wear in surgery. I don't see any more reason for me to wear a t-shirt as a woman should. As noted previously, cleavage is more of a distraction. And no I am not complaining.

    Jenny,
Despite that guy's sleazy behaviour science has proven that gold chains around the necks of hairy men are of the utmost importance........................it's lets them know where to stop shaving!

I know one male nurse who is extremely hairy genetically, almost drags his knuckles on the ground

But he Waxes his entire body to keep the hair gone and has done so for years now he is getting lasered for permanent hair removal

    OK, here's my 2 cent's worth:

I dont' have chest hair, I have chest FUR! I get teased a lot from the female nurses, who threaten me with tape if I don't do what they say. :chuckle

I never was mandated to wear a t-shirt under my scrubs, but I do anyway, as I do feel uncomfortable with all that hair hanging out, plus it looks more professional to me. It doesn't bother me in the least that someone else doesn't wear a t-shirt underneath their scrubs, and I don't think they look unprofessional, but it's just my personal feelings about myself.

Thankfully, no supervisor, co-worker or patient has told me I need to wear a t-shirt underneath my scrubs. I have been "propositioned" by patients though, which is really scary, considering I work in a men's prison. :uhoh21:

I think guys with chest hair should put on a t-shirt. that way they'd look more decent. besides, chest hairs can be distracting. ^^

Distracting in what way? What's indecent about chest hair? Methinks you like hairy chests and are thinking nasty thoughts when you see a guy with chest hair. That's why you think it's indecent. But it's only your dirty mind that is indecent. :lol_hitti

I voted for t shirt, chest hair or no hair, there are so many styles today, a guy can find one to suit the needs of the uniform. I just think it looks more professional. I would never go without a bra, and believe me, I even wear a tee shirt under some tops to prevent cleavage flashing. I am a professional, I want to look professional, when I want to look sexy, I keep it where it belongs(at home with hubby)
