I'm 25...I work 12 hour shifts. I'm on my feet ALL day! I usually try to squeeze in a break. But let's face it, that doesn't always happen. I'm finding that my ankles swell at the end of the day. Nothing serious or putting....just you can tell. I'm NOT looking for medical advice but wondering who else deals with this and what do you do? Do you wear ted hose at work like I've seen some nurses do? Tried it once and I itched my legs all day...not fun!!! Is there a "Ted hose" you can buy for nurses?? I can't be the only one cause I see others wearing them I just couldn't stand the kind I bought. Suggestions of brands that don't itch??

I use compression socks I bought at the uniform store. I love them cause they feel like socks but are nice and tight, at least for a few months. It's about time to replace mine.

I recommend footsmart.com -I get my stockings there. They have a huge selection of various brands and styles.

TED hose are pretty low-end compression stockings -- there are much better quality compression socks & stockings out there that can make a big difference. Do a google search. They're not cheap - but they can really be worth it. You may be able to get your PCP to write an Rx for them so that you can use insurance towards the purchase.

I use compression stockings but the sports kind. They kind of look like baseball socks but help so much being on your feet for 12 hours. I get them from a pharmacy where I live (In Canada) but you can get them online as well. Do a search for compression stockings online and you can find some pretty "trendy" ones. I wear them all the time. Highly recommend them :)

The sports ones might get hot if you live in a warm climate so you might have try a few before you decide which is the best.

Support hose are great. You either get knee highs or full hose type.

Full support pantyhose. Sears do an own brand that are strong and last forever.
