Inventions for Nurses

Nurses General Nursing

does anybody have any great ideas for inventions for nurses or medicine?

here are a few I would like to see....though i haven't the slightest idea on how to build them.

1) bloodless device to check blood sugar (something like a pulse ox)

2) hemodyalisis machine that fits in a purse of back pack (for home use)

3) a perfusion device to keep recovered organs useable for longer periods of time

4) wireless telepack/telebox

5) iv pumps that NEVER BEEP, that is, self correcting iv pumps

6) implantable dialisis machine (like an artificial kidney)

just a few ideas.

wondering if there are any other inspiring inventers out there

Some of you mentioned a good restaurant on the premises. My new employer has a "take-out" service every night. You can buy meals for 2-4 people to bring home with you and pop in the oven.

They also have a few coffee stands with pretty decent lattes, mochas, etc. Only takes about 10 minutes to run down and get some for the whole floor! I guess we're lucky.

I'm not asking for much (I don't think) when I wish for scrubs that find a way to reasonably accommodate all the things we need to carry around (cellphone, pager, variety of pens, scissors, sticky notes, etc). Its getting to the point where I can't bend over without something falling out of my pockets. :lol2:

I want some sort of conveyer belt on the patient's mattress so you can push a button and they will slide back up to the head of the bed!!!!

LOL :rotfl: :rotfl: I LOVE this idea!!

Hello!

Can anyone help me in the right direction? I have product that has been issued a patent and it's for nurses designed by a RN (me!) There are lots of money hungry companies that seem a little shady with multiple companies that are linked to a "main company" asking for me to sign up with them. I can be reached email.

Warm regards,

I'd like to see a dialysis type machine that could filter out HIV, hepetitis, leukemia, any bloodborne disease. Farfetched, I know, but would it not be wonderful?

I personally would like nursery radiant warmers that don't make me sweat like a pig.

About bad odor pts, I like to use ground coffee. I usually put it in a cup (or, several, if needed) sometimes I will even take and put it in the trash cans, etc. Really does work well.

ABout the conveyer belt...great idea, but a nursing home supply company already came out with a device that makes positioning so much easier.

other ideas:

- beds with removable holes to slide a bed pan in place to acutally catch the poo when it comes out.

- a way to actually talk to doctors, patients, pt families, and the assistive personell at one time without ignoring any of them

- clones

I'd like to invent a pen that doesn't leak every day. Seriously! Every day I need to get a new pen!

I wish someone could invent a method whereby stool, sputum, urine and other delightful specimens can be more hygienically collected. Oh, but then they wouldn't need nurses...*ouch! sarcasm +++*

I wish there was some sort of conditioning whereby patients become more compassionate and understanding

And I want a pair of rollerskates...

IV pumps that don't beep in the room ..just at the nurses station so that when it does go off patients and their families don't yell at you for not getting there for 3 minutes! They will never know when its beeping and you can finish what your doing and keep your prioritizing straight!

that would be good as well as a pump that had a set and reservoir to doa gentle flush with saline if the pump gets a 'high down stream pressure' on low flow rates i.e
