Indiana Nursing Job Availabilities???

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Dear Indiana Allnurses Siblings :)

I am hoping my Indiana Allnurses Siblings can share with me what you know about the job possibilities for nurses in Indianapolis, IN as I will soon be a resident of Indiana, and will be in the market for a nursing position.

I will need a RN refresher course, or a hospital that is willing to hire me as a RN who has been inactive in nursing for the past five years. Any help you can offer me will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so very very much,

Cheerfuldoer.....Renee :kiss

just a thought........... we allnurses hoosier sibs may want to get together for a welcoming party when Cheerfuldoer gets to indy.......????????? that could be really neat to meet each other......??????

Hey Renee,

I've lived in Indy all my life, and I work in Indy...work for Community Hospitals, and I've worked for Wishard too. Let me know what kinds of jobs you might be interested in. Community does offer an RN refresher course.

Consists of Community East, North, South, and Anderson...coming soon the Indiana Heart Hospital! ;)

Wishard: http://www.wishard.edu

All downtown Indy, Methodist=Level I Trauma, Riley=Children's hospital

St. Vincent: http://www.stvincent.org

On the northwest side of Indy, Catholic hospital, also has a children's hospital

St. Francis: http://www.stfrancishospitals.org

St. Francis Beech Grove, and St. Francis Indianapolis...both on the south side of Indy, Catholic hospital

We also have Winona Hospital (inner city, small hospital), Women's Hospital (don't know much about it), and the VA which is downtown by Wishard/IU/Riley. Don't know much about it either...also have some nursing agencies, like http://www.rnspecialties.com

Glad to hear back from you, Renee! :kiss

Renee, We should be nice - do you know about Hoosier Hospitality? :kiss

Hope your move goes smoothly. Dees - I LOVE the list. It's really cute, and SO true! :chuckle

Funny. . .When I was younger, I couldn't wait to get out of this State. Now here I am at age 42 and I cannot think of any other place I would rather live and raise my three daughters.

deespoohbear -- that list was hilarious! and so true!

Lausana -- Shopping sounds like a great idea. Maybe we could also start a Euchre club! Cheerfuldoer, if you don't know what euchre is, you are soon to find out. Good luck with your move!

Go Purdue!

Are old men invited to the get together? I sure would like to meet you guys somewhere for lunch, I am not much for shopping though. I think it is a great idea, I will even bring my dear wife if invited. I was born a Hoosier, and have been all over the world, but this is my home. BTW, go IU and Tony Stewart. I am indeed a euchre master.

:chuckle We don't have to really shop, it just makes for a nice gathering place. ;) I'm sure in Indy we could find something we'd all enjoy :D

hmm, where'd I put those cards...

I was recruited to Indiana from Florida and worked LTC and Rush Memorial Hospital which is 50 miles south on SR52 from INDY. The people there are warm and friendly, love to wave and will go out of there way to help you if needed, but the EXCISE Taxes on license plates are way out of line and in some counties they have a tire tax(Fayette County)which is levied yearly. You'll hear new words like; youins' and if you ask where something is they'll tell you,"up yonder a piece".

465 run's North,South,East&West and most State roads are 2 lanes with NO median or place to change a flat tire(52). Batesville is actually known as the Hospital Bed Manufactor Capital while Brookville is home to the largest Casket Company and has a beautiful lake by the same name. It's scenery and rolling hills are to die for and the climate is tolerable after the initial shock of winter has been lived through.

I have a 'winter home' 4 miles south of Laurel and my youngest son will be graduating from Purdue this december.

Everywhere has its good and bad but if I had to choose on a northern state it would be the 'Crossroads of America', Indiana.

Although I'm back in Florida, I'm still licensed in Indiana and Virginia.

Best Wishes and good luck in finding employment you'll not need!

Best of Luck in your move.

WOW!!! The support here is fantastic! Go Hoosiers! (standing ovation) :kiss

I am sooooo looking forward to living in your state as it sounds wonderful! My oldest daughter loves living there, too! I'm so encouraged by the support your hospitals give to nurses who are merging back into the field. I am mailing off my licensure by endorsement application this upcoming week, and will have the license sent to my daughter's home there in Indy since I will NEVER be returning to TX. You guys have me so excited now I can hardly wait to get moving and settle down there. :D

I am very much looking forward to meeting all of you when I get there, so it doesn't matter if we meet in a park and build snowmen and make angel shapes in the snow......I want to hug each and everyone of you for you have answered my prayers here on this thread. (((((((hugs)))))))) and :kisses

cheerfuldoer--well, you couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. I've never seen anything like it on this BB before.
