Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I am very impressed with this Forum. I have read through a lot of your posts and got loads of info and help.

I am an RN and working in North Wales, UK as a Manager of a Nursing Home. I am hoping to do my NCLEX later this year and move over to Florida.

Anyone got any tips for me:-

On how to pass the NCLEX!!!!!!;)

On what to look out for in US hospitals when I go for interviews.

I have been studying now for about 4 months and doing loads of questions too!

I have recently come back from Florida and been round one hospital and had a job offer. But obviously need to go and do more and compare.

I am a little apprehensive about going back into a hospital enviroment after being in a Nursing Home enviroment for 10 years but am willing to give it my best shot and looking forward to the challenge. So any tips there would be helpful too!!

Thanks,

Sue :)

Welcome! Check out facilities with strong orientation and internship programs...with your LTC background, they will have the means to help you reacclimate to acute care.

There is always a shortage of good medsurg nurses so I'm sure you will have no trouble finding medsurg work!

Best wishes to you! Good luck on the NCLEX!

Hello Sue IP ! Welcome to the BB and hope you soon begin to feel at home ! :)

I recommend using any CDs that came with your NCLEX review books... these helped me more than anything ! There are thousands of questions on them complete with rationales for the answers. I went through each category systematically... over and over and over again ! Until I felt comfortable with knowing the answers. Make sure you go over the questions in the books as well.

Wish you all the best ! ;)

Hey Sue! I've been a nurse for the last 20 years, and live in Florida. Depending on what part of the state you're looking at, you'll probably do just fine if you go to the larger hospitals with good orientation and education departments. And if you don't like one part of the state, try another before giving up on us. I'm a fifth generation Florida native, and I'm here to tell ya, we ARE a melting pot! LOTS of diversity here. Good luck to ya.

Welcome SueIP. Just keep on studying. Good luck
