Should I be a nurse: I am going to scream!:banghead: How in the HE double hockey sticks are we supposed to know what is right for you?? I am sorry if I sound rude not my intent, but it just makes me wonder, do you have to have all your decisions made by another person if so you ARE going to have a hard time being a burse. I am a EMT and if I had to ask someone to do XYZ before I do what I know needs to be done, I would have a poor patient outcome. Sorry but this is getting old

Before asking "should I be a nurse" :nurse: maybe they should tackle nursing school

first, spend several thousand dollars for their education, deal with PITA instructors,

late night study sessions, clinical experience...... then pass the NCLEX-PN or RN.

After all this they should be able to answer their own question. Ohh wait I forgot,

they didn't pass boards in the first place!:lol2:

These same individuals are shocked when, at the end of their program they've failed Boards. "I don't understand it! The BON is so unfair!"

Uh...couldn't see that one coming? Nope.

"Besides, I only failed by one point! If they could see how young, thin and pretty I am, maybe they would understand why I just have to be a nurse. Those BON nurses are probably all old, fat battle-axes who just don't remember how hard it is. They need to retire so we new nurses can get jobs. This is just so not fair!"

My personal favorite, one that never seems to go away: "I just started a job/got an interview/got into nursing school and found out that I'm pregnant. Should I tell?"

Yes, you absolutely should tell. Tell them that one night, aliens came and took you up in their spaceship, where they did all sorts of bizarre medical experiments on you with probes. After several hours, they brought you back. A few weeks later you found out you were pregnant. You got a message shortly thereafter that the aliens would be back for your child (so child care issues should not be an issue).

I can guarantee you, if you tell them that, your pregnancy will no longer be an issue.

My fantasy answers to the "Should I be a nurse?" posts are:

1. If you have to ask ... No.

2. If you are stupid enough to make such a major decision based on what a bunch of strangers on the internet tell you ... No.

3. If you were too lazy to read the zillion other threads asking the same question ... No.

4. If you are enjoying the smart-a** responses you are getting to your OP ... Maybe nursing is the right career for you.

I'm not asking for medical advice. I cut my finger off. What should I do? I know you can't give medical advice, I just want to know if anyone has any experience cutting their finger off and what did they do? Or what do you do for patients who have cut their finger off?

I hate the ones that say "are all nursing programs like this?"...I don't want to give up my nose ring/cover my tattoos/acrylic nails..etc.. IS it worth giving up these things?

OMG kill me now.

The ones that claim to be a nurse...and then have the strangest ideas...post about questionable ethics on their part...

one in particular really stands out to me...and it was just sooo bizarre.... wanted to get a note from her doctor that stated she should be given her old position back, her benefits and health insurance...and she thought it would work... Still can't figure out why it was here at allnurses.com? or how we could be of any help at all. We don't work in HR...we aren't the labor board...we are nurses or nursing students..or people who WANT to be nurses...how in the h$%% can we help this obviously 'off' person?

I'm amazed at all the people posting that want the members here to do their homework for them! I graduated nursing school my doing my OWN work, thank you, you should consider doing the same!
