Why? Because each state gets to do things its own way here--there is no national board. We are not a monarchy any longer.

As to your question, use EMAIL when you deal with that BON, and ask all your questions using that medium. Then you will have everything in writing.

I searched the site for an email address and I can't find one, and they won't answer the phone when I call. How am I supposed to do this when it's so hard to get through?

Go to the Connecticut Department of Public Health's home page. At the bottom of the page, click on the topic License Renewal. Should clearly give you instructions how to apply for your license. If you don't understand, there are email options there. Good luck.

Thanks but as I explained I had read that 3 times and still didn't find the answers I needed. I'll have a look for the email but I was hoping maybe someone here had an idea about what was needed for the application.

That was a good link. I looked at it, and it looks as though you do need your transcripts. What a stupid requirement if you are already licensed and working in another state! I would find it a pain, having graduated in 1985. I agree that licensing should really be made easier. Having said that, the forms I had to complete for endorsement in the UK were just as ridiculous AND I had to get an MD to complete a five page form about me, also. How many of you out there working in hospitals know of any MD that knows enough about what you do and how you do it to compete a five page report about it? There has to be a better way!

Oh I know the feeling!! I just got my temp CT RN license and that was thru endorsement from my MA license....I still felt like I have to jump thru hoops just to get all the paperwork sent and together. It was a pain in the orifice!:angryfire

I am trying to apply for an RN license in Connecticut, and I swear I have read the CT website 3 times and I still can't understand what I am supposed to do. Can anyone help?
I am UK trained and am currently working and licensed in AZ, and also have a VT license. I have a green card and am a permanent resident.
Do I need to apply for my transcripts of training to be sent from the UK? I've done this 3 times already and I am so sick of calling them!
Can I apply for online license verification from AZ and VT? Nursys.com says I can but other sites I have read say that AZ and VT are not included in the compact states list.
Do I need to provide proof of passing the NCLEX, or will my other licenses prove that I have passed it?
I have not taken the CGFNS exam, only the NCLEX. What do I need to obtain from CGFNS? If I have NCLEX do I need CGFNS as well? I haven't needed it so far.

Foreign-trained applicants who do not hold registered nurse licensure in another state must successfully complete the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) examination prior to being eligible for examination.

From what I have read above, you do NOT have to take the CGFNS, but can use the licensure by endorsement.

Licensure by Endorsement of Another State's License. Applicants for licensure by endorsement who hold a current, valid license to practice nursing in another U.S. state or territory whose requirements for practicing in
such capacity are substantially similar to or higher than those of this state be eligible for a 120-day, nonrenewable temporary permit to practice nursing in Connecticut pending licensure issuance. To apply for this permit, please affix a copy of a current, valid license to practice nursing in the space indicated on page 5 of the application.

Also AZ is compact, but VT is not, but both use NURsys. Compact is a whole nuther deal.

You can use Nursys for verification of your AZ, and VT. license. Just send in your thirty dollars.

Why don't you call the number listed on the website and attempt to talk to a human (hoping that you won't get an automated message). Then they can explain to you what you need EXACTLY.

I understand your frustration. I wish it were that easy here in the U.S.
