I got a pair of Sas and a pair of Birkenstocks. If one of these two pair don't keep my body from hurting while working these darn 12 hours shifts I'm gonna become an accountant. Wish me luck as these are the only brands of shoes I think I haven't tried yet. I was born with bad bad feet!! (collapse arches and now bunions because I refused to wear those attractive 'old people shoes' and orthotic insoles made for my feet when I was in high school).
Wish me luck!!

Let us know how you like them...I too was cursed with horrid feet! I had surgury on my bunions when I was 18 and that helped one foot but I'm afrait the other is still a little messed up! Anyway...I'll definately be interested in a good pair of shoes when I start my clinicals!

Lisa--find a GOOD podiatrist, and visit him/her often!!! It can make a difference. Consider it an investment, especially after what you spent on school.

lisamcrn,
Since destroying my left foot in a airplane crash I've used SAS nursing shoes, only. I still can't work back to back days, but I can tolerate one at a time. I don't work much in the clinical setting anymore because of the injuries, but, when I do it's SAS for me.
Good luck!

I've never heard of SAS. Where do you find them?
I've had good luck with my Birks, and also with Saucony running shoes. Ever try those? I have really high arches, so it's hard for me to find something that will support them...

Instead of "SAS", how about "SOS" to get the message across about how work makes us feel sometimes?

new balance!!!!!
the only shoe i wear! :) they are the most comfortablest (is that a word?) shoe i have ever worn! of course part of it is my fat feet!!! :chuckle i have very wide feet, and have been through the regime. nike, reebock, everybody!!! they all hurt my feet, because there wide sizes are not wide enough! maybe i should have been a seal or sea lion? you know something with flippers? :chuckle
anyways.....i wouldn't know about some of those other shoes metioned?
