I Flunked NCLEX!!

  1. On a "sample" NCLEX test hosted by my local newspaper, with the exception of the first few L&D related questions - I flunked!

Thank god we don't have to re-take the dang thing.

Now imagine some hump takes the quiz, and by chance gets 100% or scores better than his nurse-friend. It will totally diminish what it takes to be a nurse and what a nurse really does. Again.

But many were sheer guess work, and a couple of those questions were bad IMHO...

And your right..we jammed a bunch of answers into our heads before taking the NCLEX, and in the real world...things that weren`t appropriate ,we dropped them back to nether regions of our mind....to be dreged up when something triggers the need...

I got 11/15. Missed all the OB questions, I think. Might have something to do with the fact that I haven't had an OB patient since nursing school.

What, no psych questions? About 20% of NCLEX is psych, isn't it?

Forwarding to my colleagues to see how they do.

Got similar jitters as I did for the real thing!! Messed up on the darn drip calculation one. Thank goodness for pumps!

I wouldn't worry about this too much, Susy. Those questions were pretty technical and terminology-heavy. I can't believe the average layperson could kid themselves that they understood most of those questions or answers, even if they lucked out and guessed right.

Couple of glaring typos, I noticed. Hope those were transcription errors and don't exist in the actual NCLEX.

13/15. The question about the IV drip rate was crap. You need to know what type of typing tubing you have in order to calculate it.

Exactly... and passing a test is not nearly the same as applying that knowlege in the real world!

I once stumbled upon a dream job, which was telecommuting from home, writing and reviewing NCLEX questions. 'Course, you needed your MSN and I don't have it yet...
But still, if I had that job there would be NO errors on the actual test and it would be transcription error for sure!
