Denver, CO LPN 4 yrs experience $25/hr PRN no bennies LTC. Been cancelled 4 days this week so,,,, $0/hr. Jobs are hard to come by here these days. Is there a stimulus plan for nurses?

you pay 400,000 for only 1 bathroom and 1 1/2 bedrooms. the cost of living is horrrrible. im so sorry that you have to do that, but im sure you're making it just fine. i know where i live dallas, texas a 400,000 house could get you at least 3000 square feet 4-5 bedrooms. i hate how the cost of living is different all over. wouldnt it be great if it was unified all over?

Believe it or not, it doesn't really seem that bad to me, after coming from New York City. At least we have a detached house with a yard and my commute isn't bad. In NYC we couldn't even have afforded to buy a studio apartment.

i just think its ridiculous. not you. just the price of living. my mama and i watch house hunters on hgtv and it kills me when they are in some area where the cost of living is ridiculous. and they are like which one will she choose house number one a 800 sq ft 550,000 1 bedroom 1 bath...blahhh...im like seriously???

LOL I know what you mean! I just love House Hunters. A few weeks ago there was a lesbian couple buying a bungalow in LA I think. The price for the home was mind-boggling. Tiny and needed work. If I were them I would've stayed put in the condo. I'm not even the type of person who desires 2500/3000 sq feet with a huge yard. I don't mind having a smaller place as long as it is updated. That home they showed was old and tiny for a huge sum of money.

i hatttteee it when they say bungalow. im like what is that. is that like a new term for smalll run down house? because most of them look like that so thats what my perspective is on bungalow so please correct me if im wrong. what killllls me is when they buy a condo or town house thats in the 800,000 im like realllly??

Yeah I think that is what it means haha. I've never used the word before I began watching HGTV!!

The expensive condo/townhouse doesn't aggravate me as much because I'm from NYC, so I've seen million dollar apartment homes/penthouse that you would guess was a real (detached) house until you stepped outside. If I had to pay 800K and up for a condo, there needs to be valet service and a rooftop deck/pool, private gym, etc.

haha i know right. i've never heard of bungalow im like what? i understand what you mean because new york and california have HUGE costs of living. but im in texas. and for 800,000 you can get the B I G G E S T house. i guess texas just isnt that appealing for most lol. idk. but our condos that relate to nyc and LA are around 300,000-410,000

when i started as a CNA in 1992 i made minimum wage @ $3.10/hr. can you believe that? i was up to $5.25/hr when i graduated nursing school in96. i started @$12/hr my first RN job. small, rural southern town. i remember laffing with my friends in nursing school about how we would DEMAND $12/hr, and we didnt actually think we'd get it. we thought that was sooo much money. few years later i moved 45 miles down the road to a bigger town and started @ $15/hr. when she quoted my payrate at the interview i thought i'd died and gone to heaven. i couldnt believe how much they were going to pay me. it's hard to believe how different things can be only 45 miles apart. in my hometown, it's STILL commom for RNs to make 12-14/hr.

i'm the weekend supervisor in a LTC and make $29.69/hr. i love the job. i dont know if anyone will ever be able to make me work monday thru friday again! i do my 40hrs on friday, sat, sun and then i'm done for the week. i love it!

but when i worked in the hospital, good lord i made good money. my base was around $21/hr but then with all the shift diffs, weekend diffs, diffs for everything, i made $35/hr basically and had great benefits. one of these days i'm going to go back there and do just weekends.

I am an RN with one year experience (through my facility) currently in LTC in Northeastern MA. My base is $22.10/hr, 11-7 shift diff is $2, and night supervisor diff is $2. I only work 32 hrs a week so I pull in around $560/week which is comfortable for me right now.
