What is the highest amount of 12 hour shifts you have done as a nurse?

I get stuck doing 4 in a row at least twice every schedule and that 4th day is rough! I like 3 on, 4 off though.

I worked with a guy who did 21 7p-7a in a row. He looked pretty good all the way through.

I used to work 7p-7a 6 days on, 8 days off. I was younger then and I loved it. Think it would kill me now :lol2:

I've done five in a row that were two 8s and 3 12s--I forget the exact order of them. I've done four 12s in a row. Very rarely now I have three in a row. Yeah, yeah, so I'm a whimp....

I just finished my 6th 12 hr night in a row. It sucked. And I've only been an RN since June.

On the floor im on now, 5 12's and that is at the most. I now cut it to 3.

you all are nuts! :-P

8 in a row once (though one was an 8 and one a double). Wanted to die. Now I even dread going in for a 3rd day. :p

6 12 hour noc shifts. I dont find it that hard because i end up sleeping better during the day the more nocs i do.

I did five twelves twice this summer. Many years ago I did thirteen twelve hour days in a factory on two different occasions when there was something I was saving up to buy. My all time case of stupid was when I was nineteen and worked 27 days in a row. Seventeen of the days were eight hours and ten were sixteen.

Working nights it's almost better to do more in a row, if you can sleep in between. I'd rather do my 4 nights in a row and get back for a stretch with my family, on a day schedule. The KILLER shift is the first night shift... a 1 hour nap isn't enough to feel rested. I've never done more than 5- 12's in a row though.

I had a former coworker who was totally insane. He worked 360 days (12 hour noc) one year. Now that he's older, he only works five days a week ;)
