How many patients do you have on each shift?

On ICU step-down the ratio is 3:1. Med-surg/tele anywhere from 4-6.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.

Ratios lets see anywhere from 1:1 to 1:6

Max Ive seen in one shift was 31.

We do team nursing. On our cardiac/renal floor on nights there are 18 patients split between 2 RNs, 2LPNs and 2 aids. So each team is an R, L, and CNA for 9 patients.

On days there are 4 RNs and 3 take 6 patients each but they have a separate charge that does not take patients.

Med/Surg Gastro 6:1

Telemetry/Specialty Med-Surg 1:4 with a tech is a normal day.

Specializes in Psych, Addictions, SOL (Student of Life).

15 to 18 but I do psych which is a whole different animal than floor nursing.

Hppy

Specializes in mental health / psychiatic nursing.

Sub-acute/Residential Psychiatric, typically 1:16

Ooo, I'm jealous. While I've been on orientation & the few times I've been paired with the charge nurse who has 4:1 it was delightful!!

Tele floor, day shift, 1:5-6. Night shift takes the same. We get pretty sick patients so to have that many is interesting. Our charge nurse takes a full load as well.
