Hospitals with good incentives for new grads???

My experience is that the hospitals in California are quite generous.

it's a recruitment world. ---new grads have IT MADE if shopping for sign-on bonuses and other goodies.

You will get offered a lot of money/bennies as a new grad anywhere you go. no worries. But KNOW THIS: these same "generous" employers who do all they can to woo new employees and new grads don't bother to spend 1/10 of this to retain these same people!!! I remember a gal who signed on where I used to work said she felt "lured" once she saw what the place was about. She was definately UNHAPPY there. Telling words indeed.

Moral? Just make sure you like where you go as NO amount of recruitment monies are worth 2 or more years' misery once they "have" you. IN other words: Caveat Emptor. Know who you will work for and how they treat the people who work there. This is more important than taking money from the highest bidder, believe me.

Amen Deb! You should evaluate more than just the sign on bonuses being offered. Benefits are important, as are working conditions. Ask a few nurses away from the prying eyes of the managers what it is like to work there. Ask about nurse to patient ratios. Find out about the relationship between managers and employees.

To that end, many places are offering sign on bonuses while others are not. You need to ask yourself why a particular facility is offering a bonus while others aren't. The answer could be that experienced nurses won't work at these facilities, and that's why they need new grads to fill the positions so badly.

Just be sure to check out your options really well before committing yourself.

I agree- here in WA state the hospitals that ARE offering new grad incentives are hospitals that I personally cant stand (from my clinical experience). The two hospitals that I loved dont need to offer bonuses because they attract nurses through being great places to work.

I live in Washington, too, and I could not agree more. this posts speaks volumes. "show me the money" won't get you too far in so many cases, as you sign away 2 years for it.
