Hospitals Lowered Nurses Pay Rates in Nevada

Nevada has the greatest nursing shortage in the country and now the hospitals lowered nursing pay rates by $4.00 per hour. They are building 5 new hospitals here though.   :(

I, for one, do not understand why anyone would stand for a pay cut of more than 600 dollars a month.

There are a lot of other place to nurse. If you don't have a union and can't vote within it.........then vote with your feet!!!

It may be time to break out of your comfort zone, they will only crap on you as long as you allow it. You are not an indentured servent. There are 49 other states and a few territories you would be welcomed to.

Unbelievable. They must not have a nursing shortage in Nevada!!!! Certainly, tells you what the "powers that be" think of nurses. I wonder what the salaries are for nurses there?

Unfortunately Nevada is a "right to work state". Therefore there is no minimum wage and that translates to overall lower wages in most professions. Sucks doesn't it? Then add to that the number of nurses and doctors fleeing the state due to the rise in cost of insurance. Join their ranks! California may not be perfect, but hey at least you stand a chance of getting reasonable compensation for your skills, experience and education. You are a valuable commodity. Treat yourself as such. :-)

who is apparently on a posting binge.......

Med-Surg RN's were making $24 to $30 per hour. There is a huge shortage here. We don't even know how they expect to staff the 5 new hospitals they're building. Nurse to patient ratio is at the least 7:1. I've had 10:1 on a lot of days and had to cover for LVN's. Please come and sign our petition at: http://users.lvcm.com/nursenevada

Where is the reference/article on this? I'm also in NV and no one here seems to have heard this. Which hospitals are doing this?

I could not find the article on the link. could you repost how to find it. Sounds fishy and dangerous. I would not stand for it myself.

I found the article, but no mention of a pay cut......

Agencies are notifying their nurses of the rate decrease. I verified it with 3 different nursing agencies. There is no article that I know of. It's being done very quietly. I didn't believe it at first until I called some on the nursing agencies and asked them. The managers of the agencies are calling their nurses and telling them they have to take a drop in pay of $4.00 per hour.

Thanks,
