Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with this! I have an interview coming up that I am sooo excited for! I checked the hospital website today and noticed that they just posted another job that I'd be interested in as well.

The specialty areas are fairly different - the interview that I have is an area that I've been dying to get into, and the job just posted is an area that I have experience in.

Is it OK to go ahead and apply for the newly posted job, or should I wait until after the first interview? I think the hospital is small enough that the same recruiter sees all the nursing resumes - I don't want that person to get the idea I'm not interested in the interview I have coming up. Am I being overly analytical? All thoughts appreciated! :heartbeat

hmmm. i've always been told no matter what the industry..working in 2 places in 1 company would be considered conflict of interest..however, I don't see any harm in doing so since you're not officially hired by the employer. let me know how it goes.. good luck :)

I think you should just go ahead and apply. Either way is a good opportunity for you.

I would think it would be ok to apply to the backup job. I just went through that, and one of the job offers I got (and turned down) was for a hospital where I applied to about 10 different openings. In my opinion, it's a numbers game when you are job hunting. I always apply for any floor I could see myself working on - then I have more options to choose from. Just because you interview doesn't mean they will pick you, or vice versa. It's good to have options!

Nothing wrong with interviewing for both positions and then take the offer you like the best based on unit dynamics, support, etc.. I applied for 3 positions at my hospital, received 2 call backs for different depts, interviewed for both and was offered both :) Of course I only accepted one of them...

Best not to put all your eggs in one basket... Good luck to you !!!!

Thanks all! I appreciate the feedback - I think I'm going to go ahead and apply for the other position as well. Please send good-luck vibes my way next week! I'll keep you posted! :)
