Did you know that the fluoride in our water is not the same as the fluoride in our toothpaste? The fluoride in our toothpaste is pharmaceutical grade, while the fluoride in our water is industrial waste.

Did you know that if you swallow more than a pea size amount of toothpaste, you are suppose to call the Poison Control Center?

The documentary,

, links the aluminum industry to the idea to fluoridate water, as aluminum plants produced high amounts of fluoride pollution.

In 2006, the ADA began recommending that infants not receive fluoridated water in their formulas.

There is also a possible link between fluoridated water and osteosarcoma.

SuesquatchRN, I love that film. I actually rented it a month ago.

And I only drink only distilled water, or rain water, and only pure-grain alcohol. That way I can replenish my precious bodily fluids. :wink2:

Just don't relinquish them, for any reason!

If you do some Google searches...ever since bottled water became the craze, cavities in children started increasing dramatically.

We drink tap water at our house. I only keep a certain brand of bottled water to have something disposable to take with me in the car (I'm a Smartwater fan).

Flouride is flouride...what do folks think that the flouride in toothpaste is? Sterile?

Your water isn't sterile and if you read on the labels of bottled water, you'll find out it's "filtered municipal water".

Translation: Right out of a tap at the factory.

Your point that the increased consumption of bottled water caused a dramatic increase in cavities was thwarted by your point that the bottled water is really just right out of the tap.

H2SiF6=Fluoride in water

NaF= Fluoride in toothpaste

They are different compounds.:)

I guess you skipped the FILTERED part of my post. Not all bottled water is spring water or has gone through miraculous measures. You can achieve the same effect with a Brita filter and save money. Where I live we are blessed with good quality tap water...so hardly anyone around here drinks bottled.

The reason the compounds are different is that the fluoride in toothpaste and mouthwashes are NOT meant to be swallowed. That is why when you have children that are small, you get them non-fluorinated toothpaste because they will usually swallow it....in 1997 the FDA required toothpaste companies to place a warning label on toothpaste.

For parents that are bottled water fanatics or live in places where the pipes are not clean (for example, New York City has some of the cleanest municipal water in the nation...however, it's the PIPES in the very, very old system throughout the buildings and homes and businesses, that contaminate the water), there is nursery water.

Funny how everyone is freaking out about the fluoride in the water and no one is mentioning that the sodium content is so high in some areas, that cardiac patients on sodium-restriction cannot drink it.

I live in an area where a warning is on every bill.

I do not believe that is the reason at all, so might i suggest you link sources to your claims.

Yes that is so funny. :stone

I love hypocaffeinemia's well thought out posts.

We use Mt. Shasta Bottled water with fluoride. It is 5 gallons in a dispenser right in the kitchen. Our local tap water is not fluoridated.
