I just took my NCLEX this past Monday...I was stressed out the day of the exam and when I finished I thought that I had failed ...however none of class mates have failed yet ...My computer shut off at 99 questions...I have a friend who got around 200 questions and she passed ...so I am hopeful even though I felt that I did terrible (hopefully I pass now!!!) If I dont no big deal...Ill just study much harder for the next one....no offense to the girls but I think that most stress out more then guys (they also work harder studying) ...a couple of my girl friends left the test crying! hopefully they will pass and have a great carrear ahead of them...Ok good luck to all ...(fingers crossed for me) ...MOE

<sigh> I took State Boards yesterday and only wish I had read your post Tuesday night. I study for the boards with "The Edge", Lippincotts, and the Saunder's Comprehensive Review; I still haven't figured out where the questions on the board came from.
I too had priortizing questions and theraputic talk, but like the rest of the posters, none of the answers seem to fit.
I got down to question number number 73, hit confirm answer, next, and I heard the fan on the hard drive drop and with it so did my heart! "OMG! This isn't happening" is all I could think of. Compose myself and thought, "Onward!" And then it happened, the computer clicked off after question number 75!
I just don't feel like I answered one correctly and don't ya know it, the state of Tennessee has no way of finding out if you passed other then waiting on snail mail. This is gonna be one long week or 10 days depending on the state.

Congratulations to those of you who have passed your boards!

TO the girl from Tennessee-are you sure that you can't call your State Board of Nurisng like 3 or 4 days after you sat for NCLEX?
Nursing License info is public information. I took my boards in PA in 1997. I took them on a Wednesday, the 6th of August I believe. On Monday August 11th, I had my Dad call the PA State Nursing Board for me as I was sure that I had failed and didn't want to hear the news myself. He gave the lady on the phone my SS# and they told him, yes there was an RN license issued to that SS#! I almost didn't believe him when he told me the good news! I then immediately popped open the bottle of champagne that I had been saving for this momentous occasion!
I had my RN license by the 16th of August.

Good Luck I am sure you passed. If not you can always take them again. It won't be the end of the world. Good Luck!

"TO the girl from Tennessee-are you sure that you can't call your State Board of Nurisng like 3 or 4 days after you sat for NCLEX?"

It is my understanding the only way in the state of Tennessee to find out if you passed is to wait for the snail mail. I have found a web site which verifies licences in the state, but I don't know how often they update the site. Calling the board is next to impossible the number seems to be always busy. Right now the only thing I can hope for is the letter is not due to arrive on a Monday cause we may or may not get our mail until 6 or 7 at night. Egads! I need to move! LOL!
Yes, you are right and I have prepared myself to the possiblity I will be taking boards over in October. Better to be pleasantly surprised if I pass then to fail and be devistated!

    Wendy,

It has been my experience that people who took boards and felt like they aced them usually failed. I felt that I would for sure be taking Boards again in November 1997. But as fate (and luck) would have it, I passed and I am sure that you too have passed.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and try not to think about it too much and just wait for that letter to come in the mail!

Keep checking that website you found. That is how I checked to find out I passed! I took NCLEX on a Wednesday and my license was posted online the following Tuesday. So of course it won't tell you if you failed, only if you passed and were issued a license (which is really the only thing you want to hear anyway!!).
At any rate it can't hurt to bookmark the page and type your name in every day. You could try searching for one of your classmates whom you know has already passed, and then you will know if it is updated frequently.

I bet you passed! Good luck and hang in there!

"Keep checking that website you found. "

I have kept a check on it since I found it....I keep waiting each time for the site to jump and say, "Oh no not her again!"
Thanks everyone for the support and well wishes.

Took my NCLEX saturday and felt as you all do! Seems that I guessed throughout the entire test. I got 103 questions. The only question that I am almost certain that I got right is the very last one. IF I pass, it will be a miracle! How can they possibly find if I am competent with a test like that??? Ikes..........will be glad to find out results, either way. The thought of taking that test again in 90 days is scary. Anyone else getting in the 100's?

    Good luck........

{{{{{{{{{{{llrn}}}}}}}}}}} I know everyone needs a hug and right now you and I are in the same boat. I feel the same way you did when you finished your boards.
I took advantage and talked with a friend of mine who has supported me throughout this process. She took her boards long time ago BEFORE CAT and when the real puter used was the one between your ears. She understood how I was feeling and it seemed to help somehow to know I wasn't completely nuts. Hold on and hopefully within the next few days we will be telling each other congrats! Hey if not, then we both know where a good study bud is at!

    Rachael,
Congratulations! I took the boards in February and the computer had shut down at 75. Yes, I almost had heart failure too! I passed and did not even believe it, until my husband read me the whole contents of the envelope that had come in the mail. The NCLEX is a bear. I don't care how hard you study or how well you do in school; it is still a difficult test. Well, good luck with your nursing career and welcome to the RN world.

red hello, i am relatively new to this site. i took my nclex yesterday and i am freaking out! i have been an lpn for over 25 years, all in acute care, and finally completed my rn. i felt i was ready for that exam. i did very well in school, do alot of reading, love to study. i took extra time to get ready, used 4 differant books/cd's, and i have no clue how they came up with those questions!! my exam ended at 75. i felt going in if that happened i would feel confident i passed. what a fool am i. i felt like throwing up when it turned off! those are some the weirdest questions i have ever come across. nothing i studied helped to prepare me for that! i will be able to call a 1-900 # on friday to see if i passed, will i still be sane ? will my family still be living here? my husband is very supportive, he is sure i passed. when i exclaim for the 1000th time, oh, god i failed!!, he just looks at me, raises his eyebrows, and calmly say's "you passed" his feeling is that they determine early on if you passed, and then they throw alot of critical thinking ?? at us. all i know is friday can not come soon enough. thank's, cindy
