Amusing patient

  1. I was in a patients room, asking on the way out...'what else can i do for you, sir?'

He said: 'Your absence would be nice'

Lol, how nice. This was after I gave him his oxy, of course.

    Hey, at least he's honest.

I agree, at least he was honest. I'm sure it didn't feel very funny, but it made me laugh anyway. (I didn't mean for that to sound as bad as it reads. I'm sorry!) Hope the rest of your day was better!

I was in a similar situtation. I had a pt, post CABG, we had some good conversations of what he was going through, life.. etc. A few days later, I returned to work, I went to do his VS, I asked him if he has any pain, he said "not until now" Well! anyway, he returned me later that afternoon and was very nice then. HAHAH.

Very cute. BTW, are you really in Zaire? Isn't that in Africa?

I enjoy ornery older people! Intend to be one of those myself one day.
My favorite was an elderly, mildly confused postop lady who, after several hours of climbing out of bed, was finally put in a posey restraint. The next time I approached her door, she motioned me in, saying "Psst, come here". When I went in she whispered in a conspiratory manner "Honey, if you get me out of this thing, I'll take you out and buy us a shot and a beer"! By this time I was tempted to take her up on it!
