When you study, what have you found to be the most effective, studying alone or in a group?

I study with one other student, because she is just as serious about grades as I am. We do not talk, or waste time chit-chatting. We crack the books, and get right down to it. Studying in pairs is great, but just make sure that your partner is not just wanting to converse. It will only waste your time, and lower your grade. For some classes, like my staff managment class, I have to study alone because trying to explain managment theory to someone who can not think abstractly is like beating my head against a brick wall :)

Do whatever works best for you :) and never feel obligated to accept or extend an invitation!

i always (and must) study initally on my own, till i understand exactly what i think i will need to, inside and out. then, and only then, do i do any group study...find it helpfull to be able to verbalize to renenforce (and as i am usually the one who 'gets it' i get to do a lot of verbalizing, lol)....

I've never been very good at the group thing, kinda worries me about "team nursing" actually! I don't play well with others! haha. But really, I do well on my own, and have only found groups to be helpful, let's see, once in my 10+ years of college (many of those WERE part-time!) I know, I know, I could be a damned doctor by now! But anyway, I've tried groups a few times but ended up being frustrated because the other students weren't as prepared as I was. There is merrit in "the best way to know you know it is to teach it", but sometimes, time is of the essence, and I don't have it to waste. (except on loser boyfriends, of course. grrrrrrrr. another story!!)

I study alone first, then review things with one, two, sometimes three others in a group. None of us does well in a larger setting-too easy to get distracted.

I find that I do better if I study be myself at first and then get together with a couple of people and go over the information. That way I get their ways of looking at things and understanding things as well as my own. This has been the best way for me.

We study together first and then on our own and the together. If we don't understand or need alittle more info. we have the others there but, again what-ever works:D

I prefer to study alone because someof these students just come in the group for me to teach them. I used to study with a female who is a nursing student and I realized that she is very selfish and does not show much interest in her work so I just stop studying with her.

I am doing well on my own so far .

I, myself always found that if I study alone with no noise to distract me, things will sink in deeper. I've tried the group thing, but it just doesn't work well for me.

I study in a group with 3 other people that are in my classes. We all want the best grades and we support each other. There's a tiny bit of chatting but really it's the only socializing that I get. I am doing awesome in my classes that I have with them.

If I try to study on my own, my mind wanders and I tend to drift off to sleep:o If I study with others at least I'm kept awake!!!

I study best in a small group just 2 or 3 of us. I do not study well at my house I find other things that I think need my attention!! So if I am going to be studying by myself I must go to the library!!
