ADN-BSN or ADN-MSN

I've been predominantly checking out Western Governor University and Grand Canyon University for online programs. It states is cheaper and you go at your own pace, plus the fact they let me transfer lots of credits....i should MAYBE finish in a year. Now GCU wants $500/credit and is one class every 5 weeks. Im also not sure on how many credits if any they let transfer.

I haven't met anyone who has attended either and don't know much about the course work, difficulty and the organization its self. I want a place where staff is available, friendly and willing to help. I would also like to end up with being a CRNA or at the very least NP,so not too sure which masters program i would go into for that either.

If none of these places offer ADN-MSN, can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks all!

I would advice you to do a search on the site about your questions. There a lot of threads on these two schools and a lot of advice that could help you:)

Good luck!

I've been looking, and have heard pretty good things about , but nothing regarding their grading ex.if GPA goes higher than 3.0 since it's pass or fail and a pass is equivalent to a B.

I go to and am in the RN-MSN program. I just finished the BSN portion this past April. I figured the fewer times I have to make the decision to return to school the better, so took the leap to commit to MSN.

I like WGU. There is a lot of support for students built into the program. No group projects. No bulletin boards to participate in. E-textbooks are included in the cost of the program and how much you accomplish is up to you. A lot of people accelerate their degree. I have not, but have enjoyed being able to tailor my education to my time and my family. Feel free to PM me any questions you have.

I completed 's online BSN approximately six months ago and keenly enjoyed the experience. It took me a total of 10 months, 34 credits, and $5,800 in tuition. You'd be paying $15,000+ if you selected Grand Canyon U.

The pass/fail competency setup and 3.0 grade point average did not hinder me from getting admitted into graduate school. I'm currently enrolled in the MSN program at Eastern New Mexico University.

WGU does offer the RN-to-MSN program, but if you plan to become a CRNA or NP, WGU offers none of these specialization areas.

WGU just announced that they will be rolling out an FNP program within the next year. :)

Thats amazing!

Thank you so much for the information. So you're telling me that there are no group postings or projects? How easy are the classes and did they give you a hard time with registration? Im surprised they have e-books, that's a plus. About how long are the paper requirements and are the teachers really anal? How fast could you have possibly done a course if you wanted to finish faster? Where there any hidden cost? And my last question is ik you had no problem getting into graduate school, but I've heard of one crna school accepting someone with their bsn from . Do you know anything about that? If not do you know any CRNA schools that accept a MSN from WGU? Seeing that it's only a 3.0 max? Im just worried i wont be able to become a CRNA OR NP with the school. Sorry i cant inbox.

They did? Wow! I wonder how that will work. It won't be allowed here in NY - NY hates online NP programs - but good for everyone else.. I really want to offer the MSN in informatics.

Anyways, to the OP - WGU is great. I finished two degrees there (BSN and MBA) and each degree cost me about $3400 (one term each). I'm a crazy OCD person tho. :)

NP should be no problem - have seen plenty of people go on to NP school after . CRNA I don't know much about.

There are no teachers, so nope, no worries about that. :) I did about a class a week. There are no hidden costs - the only fee past tuition that I can think of is the $60 fee for a third retake of a test (in other words, you failed twice). No group postings or projects.
