Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

So. This is the week. I think I'm more anxious now than waiting on that interview invite.

Me, too!!!

I am anxious too. I had 5 very good other people interviewing with me also, which sucks:), and it makes the torture of waiting even worse.

Oh goodness! I'm definitely a tad nervous now! My interview group had a weird mix. There were older and younger candidates and a couple not even dressed in nice professional attire! I was in the last group so the interviewers said they were tired and hungry. I wish we would have known what the 13 things we were scored on were. In retrospect I always wish I said things more elegantly haha, but hopefully with the interview score averaged with all the other things we will make the cut!

I was probably the weakest link in my group- I always tend to think negatively about my interview performances though... My brain turns to mush when I'm being interviewed, especially in groups. As I listened to the others answer questions, I would think, "crap! I wish I said THAT." Lol.

13? Where'd you get that number from?

It was a 4x4 grid.

That's what our group was told at the beginning. We were getting scored on 13 things during the interview. I had a regular scantron to give them.

I don't know if sharing information is helpful or destructive! :)

Now I'm trying to think of 13 different things that could be measured in that type of interview:

Like maybe how often you went first in answering, attire, confidence, interaction with others, eye contact, nonverbal social cues.....ugh, there are so many possibilities!

That's interesting they told your group that information.... The earliest group seemed a little disorganized, like they had not done a practice run yet. Yes, the wait may very possibly drive me crazy. Good thing I'm behind on work this week because I need something to distract me from the stress binge snacking on Easter candy.

One of them was verbal communication, I can tell you that...

Im just trying not to think about it. The more I analyze how the interview went the more nervous I get.

It will be ok!! Whatever is meant to be, will be :)

Che serĂ¡, serĂ¡! Lol

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.

I have a feeling that Wednesday or even Tuesday late afternoon might be the DAY!!

They need to notify candidates from the basic program about their interview too. We were notified about interviews on 03/07 (Thu), so if this is what's going to happen with the basic program, the chances are that we'll get some answers this Wednesday the latest.

Well, hang in there everyone, the waiting is almost over!!!

I'm nervous, but feeling ok.

Tomorrow is committee day.

It would be nice to have something by Tuesday afternoon, but that's pushing it, I'm sure. I just need to give notice at work, since I am already booked through April.

Once we have decisions, would anyone want to go to the CPR/BLS class with me?

Yes, I would. Is it the one that CON offers for a discounted fee?

They have a discounted one? I was just going to jump on the heart association's website and try to get something the week before classes start. I am planning to stop working the week before classes would start because I think they have an orientation towards the end of that week.

Do you have the link for that? I'd prefer to pay less if I can!
