Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

Ya wasn't even sure if we get an "or not" e-mail. It almost sounds like they will invite you for an interview or never contact you again. LOL But then I think they'll get lots of calls. Hopefully they let you know either way. I had also heard the decisions are out about a week after interviews and it looks like summer classes start May 13. That's why I'm wondering about immunizations. I will just pray that there is time to get them done and have them be "Effective" cause it looks like I never had polio vaccine and I have no proof of having had chicken pox, etc... Not like I saved my medical records from childhood and neither did the doctors![/quote']

If you weren't vaccinated for certain things because you had the virus (like chicken pox), you just get a titer (blood drawn and tested for antibodies) done at your dr.'s office or clinic. I had to get a varicella titer for my CNA course because I was never vaccinated for chicken pox but had it as a child.

I was hoping we would've heard today! Although I guess there's still time. Is the CON office open next week since it's spring break?

If they were to release decisions about the interview candidates you would have been after 5 pm. So we still have time. :)

I'm not sure about the CON being open next week. If they're closed they better release the news today. :)

Glad to know there's still hope for today :) If they're closed next week, then they'd definitely have to let us know today, or one would hope!

Campus offices are still open, so I think it'll be next week. I thought they would be closed, but website says open.

Does anyone know how many people they invite to interview vs how many they actually accept?

Acceptance is roughly 60. I don't know how many invitees there are, however.

I think they invite double the number they will take but not sure

I know about the titers but the costs really add up especially if u end up needing the vaccine anyway!! I need one vaccine just for manditory form so hoping for a comprehensive list from con so I can get it all done at once.

9 days until the cutoff for the interview letters! And performance review time at work. Anxiety has taken on an entirely new level.

I have started prepping for my interview by listing basic questions and answering them in the mirror. I use the STAR method ( situation, task, approach, and result) when answering behavioral questions. I need to practice reducing nervousness.

And the vaccines, I too had spotty shot records, so I just got the titer.

Also, has anyone's certifiedbackground been cleared? Mine still says the college needs to approve it. I was wondering if that was some indicator of movement on the application.

Mine still says incomplete also! The administration hasn't approved yet. They may not approve it until they decide whether or not we are accepted.
