Seminole State - UCF Concurrent Program Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone, thought I would start a support group for the SSC/UCF Concurrent Program starting Fall 2012 hopefuls :) Is everyone getting their applications ready for submission... the deadline is approaching quickly!

Ooo ok, yeah that's what I heard.. you can only get into the Valencia Concurrent through invitation by UCF only. Seminole State Deadlines in a week people! :uhoh3:

Tell me about it! we also have to wait for a response too! My head is hurting already!

Good luck to you guys! I'm in the program now and having a great time!

Dropped off the application at Seminole today and I was kind of surprised that they did not have very many applications in already. Last year when I dropped off the application I was number 30 or 40 something on the first day, this year I was number 59 a week into the application deadline (@ Altamonte, I know that applications are being accepted at the other two colleges as well). Maybe people are just waiting to get a higher TEAS V score or maybe several prior Valencia students who would apply are wanting to apply for Valencia's concurrent track.

I was also coming to say good luck! I was in your shoes just a few months ago, and now we're halfway through our first semester. Try not to stress too much while you wait for your letters - enjoy the last of your free time for a while. :)

To you guys who are currently in the program: any pros/cons so far? I was surprised too as to how little applications there were too! I turned mine in today at the Oviedo campus and i was #16! Hopefully that means we all have a better chance of getting in this year!:)

Looking back at my post from last year, it seems that Seminole's application window is a month earlier. I wonder if this has anything to do with the surprisingly low number of applicants this year. Looking at that same thread, only two days after I applied (on the first day) Altamonte campus was in the 60s range, whereas this year they are in the 60s range as of yesterday. I really wonder if some people may think the deadline is later. On the bright side to the earlier deadline, that means acceptance letters would go out earlier. Last year I got my denial letter around Mother's Day, so I would think that acceptance letters would go out about a month sooner so we shall see.

I was 14 @ Sanford/Lake Mary and that was February 27....

I'm dropping mine off on the day of the deadline. I'll let you guys know my number. I requested an application from UCF for the concurrent only yesterday. Wonder if I'll make it in time since it takes 2-3 business days for them to send a password. uggghh...

Pros - it's not as bad as everyone made it seem, and it seems like the professors all really want us to succeed. At your orientation/boot camps, you'll meet some awesome people, and they will be your support system for the next two years. The first person that I met (on the day that we were fingerprinted) has become one of my best friends, and we're keeping each other in line.

Cons - there is a lot to do. Always. Planners/Google calendar will be your best friend. It is possible to work and go to school, but it's hard. Yesterday was my first day off from both school and work since the program started. There was a lot to do before we started - it took time and it was expensive. No one had prepared me for that, and we got our letters at the end of October and started Jan 9. Hopefully you guys will have more time to prepare than we did.

Neutral - I'm spending a lot of time at school, but I kinda like the people that I'm stuck with (you know, just a little bit, haha), so it's okay. :)

ETA - I am in the concurrent program with UCF, but that doesn't change anything that I've said here, except that the people who are not in the concurrent program have a little bit more time to themselves.

Sounds very exciting! So it says we will hear results within 4-6 weeks. So earliest we will hear is March 30th... let the waiting begin :uhoh3:

Anyone have an idea of how many people applied?

ery_004 I read on another post that there were 450-500 apps... and 120 seats... I don't know if it's true though...
