Press Ganey?

U.S.A. Florida

I just heard that the hospital I do my clinicals at is about to start using Press Ganey. I love the hospital and had planned to work there after graduation. I've heard so many awful things about PG on the general nursing discussion, does anyone have any non-negative experiences with Press Ganey? Would I be looking forward to a career full of, "Hi, my name is MB37, and I'll be your excellent RN today! How can I make you stay more excellent?"

Specializes in Med-Surg, Geriatric, Behavioral Health.

......Yes

Mine has been non-negative. We don't have scripts at work. We do get rated as a unit each month in various aspects of patient satisfaction, but I don't hear too much about it. Each month our hospital posts a list of employees whose names were mentioned (positively) in a returned PG survey. I think it's not so much the company, but how your hospital utilizes the data they collect.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

We're supposed to be using scripts but there has been such a resistance and mass disobeience that so far it's not working. Our PG scores are relatively good. If used properly it can be a guage on areas you can improve on and hold us accountable for being decent to our patients rather than treat them like cattle and product.

Specializes in ER.

bleah

Thanks so far, I guess at least if they start implementing all the recommendations in the next 5 months I'll still be there doing my clinicals. It seems like most hospitals are going in this direction though...if it's intolerable, are there any hospitals in the Tampa/St. Pete area that don't use PG? VA system maybe?

Specializes in Peds; Peds Oncology.

We get our ratings too, and they put the names in of people who are mentioned. Every once in a while some scripting comes out, but seems to go away quick enough.

Specializes in CVICU, CCU, MICU, SICU, Transplant.

Dont have anything nice to say about it, so I will leave it at that.
