Help!! Is Keiser University a rip-off???

Hello Everyone!

I am in need of some serious help! I considering attending Keiser University for the Nursing program. I attended their Nursing session, since I have already taken all the prerequisites. At the session, I learned that they are indeed accredited by the NLNAC on a "regional" level, and I would be able to attend UCF afterwards to get my BSN if desired. The problem I am having is that Keiser does not have a favorable reputation. I've read some horrible things online about them, but not sure to what extend they're true. I would hate to attend this school and waste all this money to later find out it was a waste of time and money and no one will hire me after.

The only reason I am even looking Keiser's way is because the college I have taken all my prerequisites at has decided all of a sudden to change their program requirements, which is really unfair, but that's another topic.

I am hoping someone on here can shed some light on this school for me, or knows of someone that has attended Keiser's nursing program and can give me some advice. I would hate to throw my time and money away on an education I won't be able to put to use.

What county are you in? I tbelieve they are accredited but they're overpriced and the NCLEX pass rates are low. Before you make any decisions on schools I would check our BON. They have all the info on who's accredited and their pass rates. here's the link:

Here in Broward county they are accredited, great pass scores, but greatly expensive. I've heard it's best you do your preq elsewhere which help get the fee down.

Just do your research.

I graduated from the RN program at the Melbourne campus in December 2012. I thought it was a fantastic program. The school is very highly regarded at the hospitals we had clinical in. Everyone in my class passed nclex first try. We also all had jobs within 6 months.

Keiser is not a rip off...It's a private institution. This whole 'rip-off' statement is so old and done with.

If that is not the case, why was this school your Plan Z? Why would anyone spend 3-5 times the tuition to attend this mediocre institution, when they can spend 3-5 times less to attend a more highly-rated school? Lets face it, students only attend these For-Profit Schools such as Keiser, because they couldn't get into one of the other reputable Nursing Schools in the State. You basically said so in one or more of your previous posts on this site. Now a school that accepts about anyone, as long as they can access large government student loans/Pell Grant, would not be on my list of schools to attend.

The pass rate shows a consistently low number of students graduating from their Nursing programs, suggesting that very few students ever made it all the way to graduation (high drop out rate). In other words, on the cream of the crop ever made it and the rest falls by the wayside, saddled with high student debt and no way to ever repay these loans. BTW, are you now attending Keiser as oppose to Broward College, which I think you were accepted at some time ago? Did you drop out of the BC program and now attending your Plan Z School? Why are you suddenly defending a money grabbing institution that is not viewed highly by anyone (especially, nursing recruiters)?

For those who may be reading this. I just want to say some people (hints ^) spend their time publishing offensive comments on blogs and forums for no other reason but to incite drama. That being said, if you're interested in any school do your homework by researching the school, such as looking on the FBON site and viewing their NCLEX-RN pass rate and their accreditation. You will find commentators who hide behind an anonymous disguise making all kinds of statements to deter readers and/or your decision about things in life. Unfortunately this is the world we live in, that being said, ignore and agree to disagree, and keep it moving.

Thank you and congrats! Everyone I know has either attended valencia or UCF, so it helps a lot to hear from someone who has actually attended Keiser. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying?
