Help!! Is Keiser University a rip-off???

U.S.A. Florida

Hello Everyone!

I am in need of some serious help! I considering attending Keiser University for the Nursing program. I attended their Nursing session, since I have already taken all the prerequisites. At the session, I learned that they are indeed accredited by the NLNAC on a "regional" level, and I would be able to attend UCF afterwards to get my BSN if desired. The problem I am having is that Keiser does not have a favorable reputation. I've read some horrible things online about them, but not sure to what extend they're true. I would hate to attend this school and waste all this money to later find out it was a waste of time and money and no one will hire me after.

The only reason I am even looking Keiser's way is because the college I have taken all my prerequisites at has decided all of a sudden to change their program requirements, which is really unfair, but that's another topic.

I am hoping someone on here can shed some light on this school for me, or knows of someone that has attended Keiser's nursing program and can give me some advice. I would hate to throw my time and money away on an education I won't be able to put to use.

Thank you and hope to hear from someone soon! ?

All the students who couldn't get into my non profit state college program went to Keiser. Most of them passed the nclex and have jobs now,but wow! What a difference in what we paid for our educations!!!

I'm not saying public schools don't have good programs at all. I'm all about the bang for my buck. However I've been to both public and private aside from Valencia and Keiser and I just feel like you get what you pay for at private.

The whole topic of this post has to do with finding an ADN program that can then be easily transferred to an RN to BSN program. I'll say this again, getting the most bang for your buck means getting you the same degree and through the same NCLEX at a dramatically lower price. Keiser just can't compete with local community colleges, and these local community college nursing programs are harder to get into than a private school, and they cost less, too.

I have nothing personally against these schools. I've not been to any of them. I'm just stating the truth that it makes more sense to work your butt off to be a competitive applicant for a community college program than it does to pay 3-4 times the cost.

Hello all,

I came across this thread while research Keiser for their nursing program in Orlando. I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents, because I feel like it is very unfair to judge other peoples decisions based on your own personal views. I am currently at Valencia, have a 3.8 GPA in my pre reqs (I still have a few left, so let's hope it stays that way) and I DO NOT want to attend their nursing program. I think it looks just fine and I am sure we would all get a good education there, but the format is not for me at all. Just like it is not for a lot of the people on this post. I cannot understand why a state funded COMMUMITY college, would be so strict about having all the pre reqs completed before they accept you. They should be able to conditionally accept and if you screw up, then you can't go into the program until you fix it. I actually like Valencia's teachers though and I feel like I have had a great education there thus far. But my last day at my very well paying job is Jan 19th, and I do not want to wait until Spring of 2017 to start either Valencia or Seminole State College. My last pre req will be completed after the summer semester and I know I can't even apply to Valencia until that is completed and I can apply to SSC but chances are, I won't be accepted. I am going to apply just in case at the other two schools but I am leaning towards Keiser. I also will be able to afford the tuition and just in case anyone else doesn't know....there is something called a public forgiveness loan where if you have student loans and they are consolidated into a particular type of federal loan (very easy to do) and you work for a non profit (which even Florida hospital is considered non profit, so its not difficult to find this type of employment) your loans are forgiven by the government. There are lots of options out there for everyone. Also Keiser does have a good reputation here, but the most important part of a nursing program is.....you. A program is only as good as you make it. My plan is to get my ADN in semesters, get a job and then enroll in a RN-BSN program online and finish up. I think a lot of these postings are garbage and people share their experiences but individual people are never going to have the same experiences anywhere because all people are different! (Duh) University of Miami is wayyyyyyyy more pricey than FSU or UF but guess what....their education is amazing so you can't say paying the same thing that others offer for cheaper is a waste of money. If that was true, than I guess someone would say that a great breast augmentation was a rip off because the doctor charged more than the other down the street.

I would say my Acura is going to hold up better than a Hyundai and guess what, it was more expensive (nothing wrong with Hyundai, just saying for reference)

I wish everyone here luck on their future careers and maybe I will end up meeting someone of you at Keiser!

Sarah

I'm in class now at Keiser I'm a Keiser brat I love it's expensive but you get what you pay for very worth it

Well what else are people supposed to share but their own experiences? Lol I mean isn't that what this is for? For people to give their input based on what they have experienced? Of course no two people are going to have the same experience, but how is one persons feelings considered garbage?

Hi! I would like to apply at Keiser for Nursing program, could you tell me please how was your experience at your interview to be admitted there?? thanks :)

Hello future Nurses,

I am new here. I have applied to the FBSN Keiser program for the fall 2017-2018. Can anyone give me some advice about the program itself? Thank you very much.

I'm also looking at keiser as another adn option.

Can you explain the process and how u got accepted and what location ur at? Also must all prereqs b done prior to applying?

Hey, Madsa! I applied to Keiser for FBSN program for winter 2017. I request my transcripts from my current college (Broward college) and they are being processed. I got my AA degree in Arts at BC. First, I met with a counselor at Keiser to follow many directions, she made an appointment for my interview. You have to present three letter of recommendations for the interviewer, I wrote an essay and then the interview it was not so bad, I was very nervous of course, but I believe it's where I did best. Best of luck!

Was there any test u has to take besides teas? What were the prereqs u took?
