FCCJ Fall 2008

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Hey there I am also in the same boat you are in!! I am waiting as well but I have not taken my NAT yet! I did the CPR at the north campus. What did you think about the NAT? I am taking it on the computer on the 23rd of May. I know this is very last minute but I am very nervous to take it! I will also be enrolled in Micro for the summer, because of this I will have 91 points for my grades so I think that is still pretty good! My other question for you is did you study at all for the NAT?

Hey there! I actually got 2 books to study for the NAT, but ended up giving up on them. As someone previously posted, it's like study 12th grade material for an 8th grade test. It was actually pretty easy, at least I thought so. The only thing I found a bit challenging was the "race-against-the-clock". The second time I took it, I skipped the test sections that FCCJ doesn't even use. All you need to do is take the Academic Aptitude, the Reading Comprehension and the Natural Sciences parts.

How long was the CPR class @ FCCJ? That's the only place I haven't called yet.

Lastly, what Micro class did you sign up for? I'm doing the 8-week session @ North campus that starts May 6th & ends June 29th... it's on Tuesdays only & is a hybrid course. I wanted to be done with it & have a little time off before the really hard-core Nursing classes start... need to get my house organized & clean before it's neglected for 16 months.....

Thank you for the information on the NAT I did get the book I am going to get back to looking it over and making sure I am good with most of the questions and the format I have three weeks to do it before the test because I don't start Micro till June 5th I am doing B session I think it is.? I am taking it at Kent and I was laughing when you said yours was Hybird cause that is what I signed up for as well just different campus! :) The crp class was not bad it was two days long and on the second day all you do is go in to take the short test and then a week and half later they send your crp card to you. If I had to do it again I would take it there! So what did you score on your NAT?

I got a 156 (raw score), but then after you multiply it by the .64, I ended up with a 100. So, with my class points I've got a total of 201. I've heard that the cut-off is around 185 also (of course it varies), so fingers-crossed that I'll get in on the first try.

I was considering the Micro class you're taking, but the only draw-back for me was that it started so late in the term & if I got excepted into the Nursing program, I would basically be finishing the Micro class & jumping right into the Nursing. That kinda freaked me out... I think I'm gonna need a little "ME" time before I head out to the battle field.

It's all a little overwhelming, when you read all the stuff you have to do once you get accepted, with all the background check, physical, shots & more shots, uniforms, etc, etc, etc.... whoooo! I'm tired already.

I'm sure all the folks that have done all of this long long ago, probably get a good laugh at all the newbies sweetin' all of this stuff out! Someday, you and I may run across a post from a few newbies, remember all of this, look back and get a good chuckle, and then sigh with relief.:chuckle

Don't sweat the NAT, you'll do great!

Just go out there & knock-it-out-of-the-park!!!

I wanted to tell you all good luck! The day you get your acceptance letter is sooo fantastic!!

~I start this summer at FCCJ...less than a month to go~

Let me know if I can answer any questions for you...I will try my best

I will be starting to study this week so If I'm not on here much that's why lol!

:nurse:

Congratulations!!! I'm super excited for you! I wish I was gonna be starting with you this summer, but I'll have to play the wait game.

Best of success to you & I'm sure we'll all have lots of questions for you once we get our glorious acceptence letters!!!

:nurse: (this is you!)

Okay all of you Fall '08, FCCJers.... are y'all out there? Hello, Hello! :uhoh21:

Let's get this party started!

Specializes in cardiac.

Hello all. I am just waiting for my grades to appear on my transcript so I can apply. I am looking forward to the summer off, but am making it a pretty busy one. My husband is leaving for a six month deployment next month. So I am really questioning my sanity of starting nursing school with my husband gone and being a single mom (with a paycheck) to our four children.

I cannot wait to meet you all.
