Broward College hopeful for May 2013 Nursing Program

U.S.A. Florida

I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!

I will. As much as I can :) I read so many past posts, it's not even funny!

Stacie u may want to wait till u have ur orientation. Some professors require only bookstore uniforms and brands. It may have changed however better to be safe than sorry.[/quote']

I am going to get the same brand as the top I purchased from the bookstore. I'm sure they'd rather my pants fit than me tripping over their longness/baginess. :)

Congrats to all admitted for May 2013!! I will be submitting my application for Fall next week and had a quick question. I currently work for a hospital and I am 99% sure that my job description will be able to waive the HCP class. I turned in all required documentation to waive the class back in December and no word so far. I spoke with my advisor a couple weeks ago and she said that they have it on file and will be processing it. She also said that I will probably have my application turned in before they even review it. I am nervous that my documentation for the HCP class will be lost in the shuffle and I will be rejected. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Also, my transcripts are already processed online so the only two pieces of paper I will be turning in to apply are my application and my HESI scores.; seems so measly for such a stressful process!!

Hey,

Has anyone purchased the evolve access codes? I was at south campus yesterday and they told me they were out, so I went to central campus today and they told me the codes were only sold in a package with the fundamentals book (which they sold me just the book at south) and the package cost $385.

I was there yesterday too! I asked them if I could buy the access from the evolve website because I had already purchased the book on amazon and they said I could. I haven't checked on it yet though.

Thanks, I also looked online but I think at this point I'm just going to wait to see what they have to say at orientation. BTW on way to get scrubs hemmed!

Hey everyone. 1 week left cant wait to start! I'm pretty much all set, I just have to get the nursing kit tomorrow.

What evolve access codes are you guys talking about? I got the books too and registered on the website and didn't have to pay anything. Look at the inside flap of the first page of your evolve books, go to that website and register for the classes there. It includes vocabulary, videos, nclex questions, as well as some other stuff.

Yeah and registered from the info in the fundamentals of nursing book also, but what I'm reffering to is from the required text book list: evolve practice test and evolve case studies complete rn

I actually searched those titles on the evolve site and what I found is one is $90 and the other $70, none the less I'm going to wait till orientation before spending more money.

Oh ok. So many questions so little answers lol. Wish the orientation was sooner. Also did anyone buy the "Code of Ethics..." book? It's a bit pricy for its size I think :/ It's almost a dollar a page. Lol

You won't need it so I wouldn't bother purchasing it. To be honest, there are a lot of books that you will not use so I wouldn't purchase anything till orientation or till you are actually attending class. I did well without half of the required books and whatever I did need (they will let you know for certain assignments) I was able to purchase from upper class students for very cheap, Amazon, or the bookstore.

I did! I went to Uniform Advantage! Omg! They're comfy and fit PERFECTLY! :)

What style (tag code number) did you get on your pants. Which store. I went to the one in Pines and they didn't have any.
