Hi all - Okay, as a few of you know I quit my last job where I was an LDRP/Nursery/Medsurg nurse in a small hospital. Well that was wednesday. I have had 1 interview in a larger hospital for OB on Friday. Monday I have another interview for Ortho/Neuro floor. Both jobs are part time (could be days or nights) Here's my problem. My true love is OB. Always has been. I only agreed to this other interview (which by the way is in the same hospital as the OB job) because I need to get a job soon before we fall behind on our bills. So anyway - the OB job says they will not have a decision made for 2-3 weeks. The Ortho/neuro will make a decision this wednesday. Here's my thing. I am certain I would prefer the OB job. I however don't know if I will even be offered a job at either place. What do I do. What if Ortho offers me a job on Wednesday and OB offers me the job in 2-3 weeks? Do I quit ortho for OB? Would it be prudent to work both? I'm so lost as to how to approach this. I just know I need to be bringing in money soon. Thoughts?

When I was deciding between two job offers, I just had to go with my gut. Of course there were benefits and draawbacks to each place, but if I had to decide in 2 seconds which one I were to pick, the one I chose was the one I went for...I couldn't be happier. Just follow your heart.

The only problem with that is. Well - I live in a rural area. There isn't many places less than 45 min away. So there's not alot of opportunities for positions that I "want". What if I wait it out for OB, and the job goes to someone else? I am just so lost. My moms a nurse, but she really really doesn't like OB and wants me to follow in her footsteps. The fact is, I don't have the anxiety level she does. I can't handle the kind of stress that ICU or Cardiac has to offer, or I would seek out a job in that. Anyway - back to what my mother would suggest, hands down would've been anything Med/surg. That's why I haven't called to ask her opinion. Please keep up the suggestions.

You have to drive 45 minutes anyway? If that is the case (and I drove 45 minutes each way for 14 years) then take a breather and look around for a job you REALLY want. Don't juts take something because ut us close:especially if you do not like it. Go with your gut. You already quit once. Doing that repeatedly will not look good on a resume. Best of luck.

Go with what you think will be best for you. If something better comes along later on then switch. Good luck :)

Well, first you have to go with what you want, not your mom. Second, I think that you should go with what you prefer. I think all of us would prefer to have a job close to home, especially with the long shifts we work; but, I also think I would go for the longer drive if it is for a job that I would enjoy.
